There’s been speculation for weeks about whether the Giants will be among the teams looking for new head coaches this week and it’s looking like they will be on the list for the first time since 2004.
Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that Coughlin is expected to “ride off in the sunset” after the Giants finish out their third-straight losing season at home against the Eagles. Glazer’s report comes a couple of days after his colleague Mike Garafolo reported that “a lot of people are talking as if it’s an inevitability that on Monday [Coughlin] is going to resign.”
Multiple reporters at MetLife Stadium have passed along word that Coughlin had a lot of family members on the field during pregame in a change from usual operating procedure on gamedays.
If it is the last day of Coughlin’s tenure, it’s one that will remembered for two Super Bowl championships attained through unexpected runs through the playoffs that culminated in thrilling wins over the Patriots. While things haven’t broken his way recently, those rings ensure Coughlin a highly celebrated place in the long history of the Giants franchise.

I expect BB will push Josh McDaniels for the job. He'd probably want it himself.

That whole press conference was like an emasculation of Reese, yet he still has a job and Tom doesn't. One funny part came when Mara slipped up when someone referenced the Wayne Weaver quote about his biggest regret being firing Coughlin and whether he (Mara) might feel the same way in a few years and Mara said 'I wouldn't classify it as a firing, but I may be saying the same thing in a few years'.

I think that was Mara (NY Post article)!

Today should seal it forever. I don't ever want to hear anything about how the Jets are a circus, and how classy the Giants are as an organization.

John Mara said over and over again that the team’s failings were mostly due to personnel issues – yet – had no real answer for why the coach is going, but the GM still has his job.

If that's not a contradiction, I don't know what is.

    What a circus they are!

I'm by no means a Giant fan/apologist, but come on. The Giants have a long way to catch up to the Jets circus, not matter how much things may have changed under the current Jets guard.

I'm talking about the Giants of today, and the Jets of today.

I don't expect you to be unbiased, or to appreciate the difference.

Yeah it was Mara, Pat Hanlon already had to put out a Tweet saying in effect 'Tom wasn't snubbing anyone, he just wanted to get out asap'

Yeah, I watched the press conference today, and I was a bit confused by the entire thing too. Basically, our personnel sucks but I like Reese and we have to blame someone so we're going to fire the coach.

    Coughlin's speech was awesome.

    http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nyg/draft.htm

They have 6 players that actually play (not all good) from the past 5 drafts excluding this past year (where Flowers & Collins started). JPP (2010, club-arm), Prince (2011), Reuben Randle (2012, disappointing), Hankins (2013), Pugh (2013, pretty shitty), Odell (2014).

They're setting themselves back a year in developing a solid roster to make a push with Eli by not completely cleaning house. Reese has drafted horribly in terms of players panning out, but I guess you can argue how much of those players development is on Coughlin? That's why you fire both and don't look back.

    Coughlin to the Eagles?

That should be a short commute.
