Hope this thread is a change of pace from all the same dreck we have been getting lately:

Lets me get the negative out of the way right now:

The Jets traded up to get this guy and many feel he was a luxury pick so this makes this years draft a travesty.

    Ok now the positive:

This guy is the most positive development on the Jets so far. The Jets really needed another corner badly. Not to say some stud O and D lineman would not have helped. However, management went after a guy they thought filled a need and went after him with abandon.

It seems like a great pick to me. Edited to add: So far the price seems to be well worth it if not a total bargain.

He can tackle and cover well. He has had a couple of rookie mis-steps but all in all he has played excellent considering he missed 3/4's of training camp. Now if he can start to ball hawk, he is going to be a revelation in the rebirth of this team and franchise.

    What says you?

One of the few bright spots on our team, I think he has the chance to become a shutdown corner by the end of the year. It's even more amazing considering how much camp time he missed.

I agree he's played very well so far especially considering how much camp he missed. I'm more confident with him in coverage than anyone else in our secondary already. With some experience we could have a real solid CB for a while. Can't wait to see him get a pick though. Hopefully Trent Green will deliver the goods this week.

I like the pick more now because a) Justin Miller is out for the year and may never be the player we hoped for, b) Andre Dyson is also out and was even picked as a roster cut by Cimini, c) he could be the best cornerback we've had since Aaron Glenn was here, and he's taller.

He looks great after 2 weeks. The problem as you said in the negative is that he was a luxury pick. We still gave up 4 passing tds in 2 weeks with him playing as good as he has. Maybe if somebody was getting in the QB's face he would already have those picks and that number of TDs would be less.

He has been great. One of the only bright spots on defence so far. He will only get better this year but hopefully Dyson comes back strong and helps him out.

well he hasn't given up a single TD yet but more pressure from our linebackers (or at least SOME pressure) would defenitely make our DBs look a lot better

Actually, it's totally empty. 0-2 does that.

Still too early to get excited over Revis. From what I've seen, he's definately both physically skilled and mentally capable of being a defensive force. The fundamentals are there, he just needs more experience and actions.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited by what I've seen thus far.

After watching Leon Hall get absolutely burned by braylon edwards this weekend, it looks like we could have gotten the best cb in this years draft...

I agree, I feel confident in his coverage and don't worry who he's lined up on. He has already shown that he can tackle in the open field, and he comes into the middle and gets his nose in the pile as well. I remember watching one play in the opener when there was a run up the middle and Vilma was a little outside, he was just looking at the pile since the play was practically over....then Revis goes flying by him, all the way from the sideline and lays a hit on someone.

I just wish Dyson was healthy as well. And just imagine if we didn't pick Revis, who would he be starting now? Barret and Poteat or Drew Coleman?

You have to give credit to Tanenbaum for knowing what the Jets biggest weakness was. Complain about the o-line all you want but, without Revis, the Jets secondary would be a complete disaster right now.

That being said, let's see Harris out there some more.

Loving Revis, was a big fan of the decision to draft him if you hadnt of guessed, and so far he is bringing the goods. He has been a lot better than Barret in coverage and teams have noticed this, they are attacking barret more than Revis. Like somone said i cant wait for his first NFL pick hopefully that will come sooner rather than later. Has the potential to be a complete shutdown back.

The fact that he's not getting thrown at speaks volumes.

If we had 2 really good DB's then I would've considered him a 'Luxury pick', as it stands, he's already the best cover corner we have, even with a healthy Dyson. Just my opinion. Easily the best CB since Glenn we've had.

With further development from both Rhodes/Revis, our secondary should be outstanding for years to come.

Really liking Revis so far though Id like to see him on some returns. With Miller out though itd be tough to put him in harms way like that. Which do you guys think has more effect on the other...pressure from the d-line to make DBs look better or super tight coverage to give the QB issues and thus making the d-line look better? I would certainly say d-line pressure has a greater advantage.

I'd rather not see him doing returns with our DB depth right now. Let Leon Washington handle the load - they don't seem to be using him anywhere else right now

I'd have to agree that d-line is more important in making the secondary look good than vice versa.
