I think Lowery is very underrated on this board, and would it be ridiculous to say that if Cromartie plays to his potential we could have the best #1,2,3, and 4 corners in the NFL?
I'm a big time Lowery fan, but the kid shows up for one game...then is gone for the next 4. I dunno about us having the best 1,2,3,4. I know though we have the best 1,2 combo. edit: btw it seems like Wilson is talking as the 3year player haha.
I never understood all the hate for Lowery. Yeah, he was forced into the starters role and didn't do great, but he didn't do nearly as bad as many people make it out to be. Since he was drafted (in the 4th round) he has been known as a ballhawk, but with suspect cover skills. He has shown a knack for getting to the QB and getting his hands on the ball, he should have a great year playing inside
I'm a big fan of Lowery... as long as you make him play the way he's supposed to. The guy can be a really good nickle or dime CB and he can get physical by blitzing and bringing pressure. This will be asked of him this year and I think he'll contribute greatly. Last year when he was used in a more conventional role on the outside he got beat because he just doesn't have the physical ability to play there... but as a CB playing in the inside he'll kick some asses (and hopefully get some INT's in the process).
Most of the arguments on the board about Lowery have been whether he can be a #2 or if he's a nickel corner. I believe he is a nickel at best, he just doesn't have the speed to be a starting CB. If the CS believed he could start they wouldn't have acquired Cromartie and Wilson.
dude give it up. It was a position that needed to be upgraded. And it was a major upgrade at that. Lowery, Coleman these guys are liabilities. Although I believe Coleman is the much bigger liability of the two. CS will get the most out of Lowery by utilizing his strengths in packages. Why do people feel Lowery will make a better safety than CB?
What are you talking about? Why are you telling me to "give it up" I'm not even arguing, and I agree with the moves I'm just saying that Lowery is a little underrated You need to work on your reading comprehension
It is very well known that Lowery plays much better when the play develops in front of him instead of when he's busy trying to play man coverage. He's decent in man, but was a beast in zone where he was able to read the QB as the play developed. I still think Lowery would have made and still could be a very good safety.
The Indy game proved we needed to upgrade at the #2 and #3 CB spots if we ever plan to win the Lombardi. Lowery can't play man to man on the outside, we needed to make a move.
Sounds like the dime corner on the inside fits him well. As long as he's not on the outside by himself. He sucks in single coverage, sucks!!!!
He's obviously well above average for a dime back. That's the role I like him in. I never cared for him as the #2, but he can be a decent nickel and a very good dime back IMO. That's a solid secondary if he's our dime.
Because he doesn't quite have the speed to play CB on the outside. That and his ballhawking abilities make him a good fit for safety; quite simple actually.
Lowery can play no. 2 for a lot of teams in this league. I think people tend to focus solely on his bad plays, without looking around the league for comparison's sake. He's better than handful of starting DBs, that's for sure. I'm not saying that makes him a solid no. 2, but definitely a solid no. 3, IMO. If he winds up playing dime this season, I think that says a LOT about our secondary, and even more about Wilson, being able to supplant him as a rookie. Regardless, I expect Rexy to move him around, like he does with everyone, throughout the season.
he is right where he belongs as the #4. he can make plays and his screw ups won't have much of an impact when covering the 4th option.
He's shown he can make plays when he hits people, causing fumbles. If he can disguise what he does well enough, he'll have 4 sacks this year, which is a lot for a dime CB. This is perfect role for him, because he's has better skills than any opposing #4 WR. The Jets secondary is pretty nasty this year.
I did not finish my statement. The CS do not believe he could start. This is the reason we upgraded to Cro and Wilson. I don't understand why you do not see this. Lowery as a starter at the CB position is not underrated at all. He isn't good at all. How do you not see this! He is limited which is why he has to now be put in to certain packages to maximize his effectiveness on the team. Hop off his dick.
Be careful, teams like saints and colts 4th WRs are good against opposing teams 4th cbs. I will consider Clark a 4th Wr Wayne Garcon Collie Clark Would you trust Lowery guarding Clark?
