Wearing a Jets jacket and his dads superbowl III ring Ryan threw the word “we” around a lot in his excitement on ESPN’s “Get Up”: “This happens to be Super Bowl III, my dad’s Super Bowl ring right there. And why am I wearing it? Because the Jets are going. Watch out, everybody. Here come the Jets! Here come the Jets! Right now, we haven’t had this type of quarterback maybe ever, since [Joe] Nameth or whatever, or maybe ever. This is it. This is the missing piece for the New York Jets right here. Guess what all you fans in the AFC East: it ain’t no fun when the rabbit’s got the gun. Because we’ve got the gun right now, and it is on. Our defense is better than yours, our quarterback is better than yours. It is on ... Here we come Jets.” Check out the youtube video of him, very enthusiastic and cool to see. Sorry about the double post messed up the title in the other.
At this stage in their careers Allen is better than Rodgers but the gap has been closed between the teams. I think it's a 3-way fight for the division with the Pats finishing in last place.
I think it is a 2 way race. Tua will be hurt again and Mike White will play 2 games and get hurt. Miami will be down to their 3rd QB within first 8 weeks.
The QB situation in Miami is not stable but their roster is loaded. I wouldn't count the Fins out. Remember that playoff game at Buffalo, they played with a no-name scrub QB and played the Bills tough even though they lost.
Well the Jets whipped Miami once and would have beaten them again with half-decent QB play. The Jets would have also swept Buffalo with better QB play. I think the Jets are now the best team in the division.
It will be fun to watch this season. Until they prove it on the field the Bills are still top dogs in the division. The games between the Jets, Dolphins, and Bills are going to be must see TV this year.
A better question is who has the Top Defense in the AFC East? And are we resigning Q Williams? That might prove the difference
Last season Allen - 4,283 passing yards with 35 TD's and 14 INT's and a completion percentage of 63.3% Rodgers - 3,695 passing yards with 26 TD's and 12 INT's and a completion percentage of 64.6% Allen is the better QB now at this point in their careers. I expect two close, physical matchups between the teams. My guess is they split the season series.
On the flip side Allen has one elite level WR in Diggs. Davis was supposed to be a solid WR-2 but he was a bit of a disappointment. Why do you think the Bills are trying to trade for Hopkins. They need to give Allen and Diggs more help. The Bills don't really have a run game unless Allen is the one running. With him getting older the Bills probably don't want him running as much and taking all those hits.
We could have had this guy as our head coach for 30 years and Tannenbaum f-d it all up by giving Sanchez the worst contract in NFL history.
Too many variables to even worry about it. You are assuming that AR will be playing at his lowest level same as last year, broken thumb and all. I wouldn't bet on that. Also, IMO all comparisons and projections at this point can dissipate in an instant. Is not just Tua that could get hurts, is any of them. One key injury to any team can change the landscape tremendously. And mobile QBs have a higher chance of injury.
Rodgers did play with a broken thumb last year but remember Allen also got hurt in the first Jets game with his arm/hand (I forget which) and played the rest of the season in pain as well.
I like that we're still his #1 and not Baltimore or Buffalo. But I wonder if Rex changes into a Bills jacket and does the same thing for Bills media...
