The Jets would like to keep him, in part, because they believe it might help convince Brett Favre to return for another season.

    WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Maybe because not everyone in the world is as convinced as over half this board is (per the recent poll) that Ratty's proved he's the next Sammy Baugh because he hit Clowney for two long passes in the Q4 of a preseason game against scrubs?

You're right, lets get the guy who threw 10 Ints and 2 TDs in his last games back.. that would be great!

Triple coverage? I like those odds!!

The guys sucks, he needs to retire... or just go somewhere else.

They want Favre back..get used to it..accept it..it will save your stomachs over the long run. Personally I think Ryan would fire him in a second. This is one of those things, it would appear, that he capitulated on in order to get the job. Why on earth would anybody want their potential replacement on their staff?

Sell the team, then light Woody Johnson and Mike Tannenbaum on fire.

Mike Tannenbaum has done one hell of a job. He's not the reason this team felll apart down the stretch.

You can dog him all you want, but your wrong. He's done everything we've wanted him to do, and now he's hired the guy most of us wanted to coach this team.

Give Mike a Woody, light the Tannenbaum on fire, and sell the Johnson of each coach and FO person (since they have no balls anyway).

They hired Ryan on the criteria that he couldn't choose his own OC so he wouldn't immediately fire Schottenheimer. Now, big surprise, Ryan is trying to convince Schotty Jr., who is a LARGE REASON why the team made it's end-of-the-season slide (and whose body of work has been far from impressive), from quitting. All to keep a 40-year-old QB with an injured shoulder from retiring after he proved he can't compensate for his age anymore. This is the most fucking retarded situation I have ever seen. And people like you, who refuse to take the blinders off and understand that this team is being run by lawyers and acountants, are why Woody Johnson is going to sell PSLs. Ignorance.

Being that Ryan is a defensive coach i think he wants his guys everywhere including the Defense cordinators but as for offense i think he wouldnt mind keeping a guy like shotty jr. but i dont know why. I rather promote Callahan to OC.

I still think we got the right guy, even if it was for the wrong reason.

I'd rather have one more year with Favre than pick up some of the sorry FA Quarterbacks that are available now. Boller? Anderson? Leftwich? Come on.

How often do you see any marquee FA quarterbacks? And how often can we afford them?

The only QB who could possibly become available in FA that would be worth our time is McNabb.

This isn't a football operation, this is the Ponderosa (from Bonanza- not the steakhouse-for you younger folks).
Hoss can't get rid of Hopsing because that would piss off Little Joe. And Adam is not a real ranch hand anyway. So now no one will clean the shit out of the barn before Ben gets back to the ranch from always being out of town.
    Precious!

Alot of things depend on Favre frame of mind and body- not good at end of season.

If favre is committed and healthy, (like he was in '06 when McCarthy took the HC job at GB) then there is NOT a better option. If not, start looking at the waiver wires.

Personally, if he cares anything for his legacy he retires tomorrow. I ve enjoyed watching him for 17 years but enough is enough. He came here to "do everything he could to make the Jets win" and for a majority of the season he made good. Then, for a variety of reasons, some of which we will never know, the 20" gleaming rims came off of this houpde in all facets of the game.
