Probably the true MVP of SB III. And a Carle Place Frog to boot.

Much as I love Joe, Matt was the MVP of SB III. I still remember the joy I felt as a kid when he smashed over the left side for that touchdown. After the Jets moved to Jersey, he refused to attend any games or functions, feeling moving the team there was disrespectful to the fanbase. A true and legendary Jet. Rest peacefully.

It's too bad he hated the Jets and held a grudge with them upon retirement and it sucks that his contempt for this team is apart of his legacy.

    What
What was his beef with the Jets? Original ownership? I never saw him play but I appreciate his legacy with the Jets. RIP 41.

Maybe some of the old heads can speak on it. I do know he didn't show up when he was put into the Jets Ring of Honor ceremony or attend offical anniversary events of there Super Bowl 3 win held at Jet facilities.

Ah, man, I just heard about this. One of my all-time favorite New York Jets. Truly sad about it. It's a shame that he never made peace with the team. Or should I say that the Jets never made a point of actively pursuing that peace? I read an article many years ago that Emerson Boozer personally went to visit him to talk to him about it and it did not go well. RIP, and thanks for that lone TD in Super Bowl III.

Truly the real MVP of SB 3. Even though Namath was the star, we do not win or come close without Snell. RIP Matt

Snell scored the only TD. Had 121 yards rushing......

Oddly enough, Namath is the only SB MVP to not score a touch down.

How did Namath win MVP of the Super Bowl anyway? Sounds bogus. Was it his prediction alone that clinched it? Defense played well too by the way.....

Ryan Clark is definitely pissed and critical if he's alive and working the commentary at SBIII. :p

    never confuse stats with impact....

first, unlike today's robots, AFL QBs , except for paul browns bengals, called all their own plays

JOE did not call any plays in the huddle....he called formations based on film study , then plays at the line after seeing how the colts lined up on D.

Snell was great, and so was sherm plunkett who kept bubba off namath..

as to the grudge, it was my understanding that matt wanted a job with the jets afer he retied, but none was offered.
also, he went into construction business and wanted a reference .....on both items, he said Hess stiffed him.

doesn't change how much he will be be missed...:(

Colts DE in Super Bowl III Ordell Bracey has always maintained that Snell should have been named MVP of that game.
And Bracey would know, because Snell ran all over the Colts in that game.
Nothing against Namath, but he did not throw one pass in the 4th quarter.

RIP to a Jets legend! Wish I was alive to see him play, but that's a bit before my time.
