Should the Jets make a trade for him? If the Giants are going to bench him, I say bring him over here. He's not going to set the league on fire but he's a guy that has a ton of experience, championship pedigree, can make plays and bring some stability to the position without the circus. He's way better than anything currently on the roster.
Wtf for? You want to give up resources to trade for a guy that’s clearly washed up to play for a team that’s clearly lacking talent? Seriously, wtf would be the point of this, to win 5 games instead of 3?
We already have this guy on our roster in Tyrod Taylor. I'd say investing in a washed QB to rescue what appears to be a failed year is a waste of investment. If Wilson is going to turn the team around, it will be as a game manager behind an aggressive defense and strong running game. Assuming we could somehow magically make these things appear, Taylor will do the same.
I think you mean to win 3 games instead of 2. Either way, the idea that Wilson would somehow dramatically improve this team is laughable. May as well start a trade for Aaron Rogers thread.
I mentioned this in another thread but there's gotta be a way to prevent "stream of consciousness" thread creating.
The QB play on the Jets has been dreadful. I'm tired of watching the futility. Teams playing the Jets know they can focus on stopping the run and not worry about getting beat by the QB position. When you can't put points on the scoreboard, the defense has a harder time and that's what we've seen so far this season. Wilson would bring some stability. I think it's worth it than to see Fields, Taylor and the defense struggle all year.
So this is not an unreasonable position - can we just watch a better product this year. Fields especially I have zero faith in. Taylor can't really move the ball but won't make boneheaded decisions, whereas I think Justin Fields is basically Geno 2.0 - the bad version, when he was on the Jets throwing 6 pick-sixes in a year. I still think you won't get a better product with Wilson than with Taylor. Having said that, if you do believe you will, it only makes sense if it's cheap - like, waiver wire cheap.
Why would you want to go from the #1 pick to #10+ by winning 5 pointless games, and after 3 games, this season is already worthless and all about the draft, it gets quicker every year.
Because I hate tanking with the fire of a thousand suns. Tanking sucks. It blows. It is a disaster. It is horrible. It makes me sad. It stinks. It corrodes a team. It makes the product unwatchable. I want to put tanking into a tank and drown it. Not saying that we should go get Wilson for that reason. But I oppose on moral grounds anything we do with the express purpose of making the team worse and my Sundays even more depressing.
I would not be opposed to it, he could probably come cheap. what a world if Fields got benched for Wilson 2 years in a row for different franchises
We have all of those things already, though. and I never said tank, I said why do you want to add a QB to win 3-5 games (that is a bif IF as well), if we stick with the two we have they are capable of winning games if and this is a big IF everything drops right, we seen it in 2 games already and last season, how many games did we nearly win under Rogers but didn't. If we traded away 3 of our better players, that would make your second paragraph tru, making us worse to tank, I was just letting us roll with what we had, tbh I'm sure they are capable of getting us the #1 pick. Then again, picks aren't everything, Miami picked up our slack when we didn't trade the #2 and yet 3 seasons later, they are right on our coattails at 0-3 and ironically have Wilson as backup QB. I'd be furious if I was a Dolphins fan lol I understand that we all want to see us win but I want to see us win 10+ games and go to the playoffs at a minimum, anything less is just ultimately pointless short-term enjoyment, look I'm hoping they win in London, the weekend will cost me as much as a 10 day holiday in Spain, I will certainly be narked if they get hammered, I am expecting that too happen tbh
Why would we give up resources and cap space for a guy who is old when we are 0-3 and likely will be drafting top 3 this year? Didn't we learn from the Aaron Rodgers experiment? You want to be paying 3 quarter backs on this roster as much as mahomes?
Who watches Russell Wilson play football in 2025 and thinks “you know what that’s the kinda stability we need”
