I was wondering who might still be available in FA and whom, if anyone, the Jets might have interest in signing.

Below are some players listed by positions of possible need that the Jets may be considering. Most of these are over 30, and I don't know what, if anything they might have left in the tank, but at one time were considered very good. Whether they're scheme fits is another question.

    LT
    Taylor Lewan

    OG
    Gabe Jackson
    Roger Saffol
    AJ Cann
    Dalton Risner
    Justin Pugh

    SS
    John Johnson

    LB
    Kwon Alexander
    Myles Jack

    RB
    Dalvin Cook
    Leonard Fournette

I didn't include Ezekiel Elliott or Kareem Hunt, because I don't think the Jets have any interest in either.

I didn't see anyone else on the Spotrac list (https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/) in whom I thought the Jets might have interest.

How about you? Are there any other FAs that you think the Jets should consider at OT, RB or other positions of potential need?

Considering the state of the Jets offensive line, the real necessity is to pick up a good tackle. Lewan played well at times in his career, but he recently described himself as
permanently disabled in his lawsuit against his doctor:

"Lewan is dealing with "severe pain and disability, suffering, disfigurement, loss of ability to enjoy life, past and future medical expenses, past and future loss of earnings, past and future loss of career earnings, past and future loss of career opportunities, and mental distress," according to the lawsuit."

Joe can also trade for a tackle. I'm sure he's already called half the GMs, turning over every rock. My only concern is he seems to struggle sometimes identifying a O-lineman that would do good over here. Plus we already don't have a 1st round pick, so I'm sure he won't wanna give up anything above a 5th. Maybe he could trade say Corey Davis and a 5th for a good lineman? Just guessing.....but wouldn't be mad if we land another good tackle before the season starts. Aaron wouldn't mind that either!

I'm not advocating that we should drop anyone or sign any of these guys. Since Rodgers contract was announced, I've seen speculation that the Jets might add more players from those still available in an effort to shore up weaker position groups. Just seeing those comments and some speculation, I got curious to see who might be still out there that could potentially help us and/or whom the Jets might be considering if things don't start coming together with a position group or two.

If the need is there towards the end of TC due to injuries or players just not playing well, if the Jets want to sign someone, fine, but otherwise, I'd rather that they save part of it in case of an emergency during the season, and try to roll the rest over to next season to help in retaining the FAs that the Jets want to retain.

Thanks. I just knew his name from the past. I guess that rules out any tackle help. We'd better pray that both Brown and Becton get healthy and play well.

At this point, I don't see any team trading an OT. It's not like there's a surplus of great OL running around out there. Many teams want to upgrade their OL but can't. I can only see teams being willing to trade a tackle if a rookie steps up in a big way, they have a serviceable backup, and can save some cap space by trading or cutting an older player who has a bigger contract.

As you said, we already don't have a 1st rounder next season due to the Rodgers trade, so I can't see Joe trading for an OT even if another team had a player worth trading for and was willing to trade him unless we have another rash of injuries like last season to our OT position group.

Jonathon Taylor wants out of Indy. He would be a better option than Cook.

I fear it may be, especially since we have the cap space to do so. Sherwood and Quincy had better ball out. Maybe Zaire Barnes too!

I liked Kwon and that energy he brought…don’t understand why we didn’t bring him back

I think the reason was two-fold. One, initially they didn't have the cap space, and both Q's and Rodgers' contracts were up in the air; and two, they're supposedly really high on Sherwood, and then like Zaire Barnes a lot, so they probably wanted to wait and see how things went with them in TC.
