Hey folks, One of the guys over at Aint-It-Cool-News got his hands on a few pages from a script for a new film in production entitled "SOJ The Movie". It is the story of a football team that raises its fanbase's expectations repeatedly only to disappoint them in new and embarrassingly bad ways. Here are some of the details (Spoilers Ahead....you've been warned): In the week 15, the protagonist faces off against a division rival and is able to gut out a win. Subsequently, message boards go crazy with rabid fans (led by a poster name "Bob A") making bold predictions about running the table and winning the division. In week 16, the team travels out west for the fourth time of the season, determined to break their west coast jinx. Unfortunately, cruel fate intervenes again and they are sent reeling with another devastating defeat to an inferior opponent. This sets up the films climax. A showdown against a rival of yore, led by their former QB. Our heroes face a do-or-die situation to make the playoffs. It is an ending that could only come out of Hollywood. I won't tell you how it ends, but you can be sure you will be on the edge of your seat until the final whistle blows. Yes, the plot is a little derivative of movies we've seen before, but you know it will be the must see film of the holidays season! DbJ (BTW...for those of you who take everything you read on here seriously, don't go over to Ain't It Cool News looking for a post on this subject)
sadly this is one scary but possible scenario. honestly I still believe we can run the table from here on out, but what we need is a spark, that leads us to a win. once we get the ball rolling again, i have faith that it's going to pick up speed and roll over some people. but we gotta get the ball rolling first.
Thanks NDmick. Hey, there is always hope, but recent and distant history makes me less than optomistic. Every Sunday, I wake up looking forward to a win, but unlike the rats in skinners box, I am not responding to the negative reinforcement.
 Well, that original post was great. (very entertaining and funny) I wouldn't be surprised if that's how it went down. I could see us winning against Miami and losing right away with tons of posters screaming about having to give up a 2nd round pick all because we barely snuck in. I could also see us losing and having to watch Penny in the playoffs....without us. However then there would be a scent of optimism about only giving GB a 3rd instead of a 2nd. Either way we're not going to be satisfied. So lets just smile and shake our heads. SOME DAY our time will come guys. Who knows when it will be..
Well I assume from your user pic that you'd be quite happy with the Jets out of the playoffs and your hero in.
Somehow I knew somebody would ruin my parade. (Can't you just respect that Chad is my favorite player?) Yep, you caught me. I would be so excited and just filled with joy if my one true die-hard passion (the jets...) in life was let down in the last week of the season to miss the playoffs. ... I think what would piss me off most about that is the fact that we released a proven winning QB in Chad (whos a huge part in that teams turn-around) instead of releasing somebody like Ainge, or Barrett, or Drew Coleman.
i saw this movie in 2000. we go to oakland what 9-5 and looking to roll. lost the last 3 and missed the playoffs
I've been hoping since 1981. We were ahead in the second half against Denver in 1998 - just 30 min from the SB. We had a chance in 1982 to go and that didn't happen either. I have no idea what my point is, other than to say that this team has been killing me before I had hair on my balls and the torture continues to this day.
Shit, this movie has been remade several times since the early 80s. This is sequel VIII by my count: New York Jets collapses: 1984 = started 6-2, finished 7-9 1986 = started 10-1, finished 10-6 1991 = started 7-5, finished 8-8 1993 = started 7-4, finished 8-8 1994 = started 6-5, finished 6-10 1997 = started 8-4, finished 9-7 2000 = started 9-4, finished 9-7 2008 = started 8-4, finished ???
It's that time of year when all the old classics come out like "It's a Wonderful Life", "Miracle on 34th St.", "A Charlie Brown Christmas", "Rudolph", "The Grinch", etc. The only thing different with the Jets is we get to see the same movie over and over again but with a new cast of players !
