Coach Mangini has nothing to be ashamed off. He had his team prepared on both sides of the ball and the defense played their hearts out. The onside kick was not a bad call..it just did not work for us this time but we still held them to 3 and the D was pumped up. The offense overall did a pretty good job against the best defense. We lost today because of Chad bad judgment particularly on the first interception when he had Coles wide open. He is sorry against the blitz. The second biggest misfortune was the crappy officiating call on the fumble demonstrating the refs even worst judgment. End of story. I love Chad as a person...but he will never be our long term solution.
Totally agree, except for part of the Pennington part. I think when he is on,he's on. We are not seeing any consistency from him this year. He has a crap game vs Cleveland,Great game in NE,crap game today. If he could return to 02 form,i think he'd be the answer.
I'm a Chad supporter through and through but I think they should consider putting in Clemens to put a fire under his ass.
I am not well known for praising Mangini but he should get credit for how well the team played today. The effort and entusiasm we played with on both sides of the ball was outstanding. The team played very well, the gameplan was sound even if we did not capitilize on our oppurtunities. But often teams play well and lose. There is nothing to be ashamed of. The team played well today and should be proud of their efforts and the CS should take credit. There is quite a lot to about todays game to be happy about and build upon.
If we put Clemens in that better be it. I hate when teams get fed up with the QB then replace him and then take him out after 2 bad plays ya gotta stick with what ya do.
.... 22 for 33 168 yards 5.1 y/a 1 TD 1 INT for a 76.3 rating is a GREAT game? What's an average game then? You're telling me if you average that every game you should go to the hall of fame? It's like you've been conditioned to accept mediocrity, or a bit less than that even, as greatness, just because he's been so awful so often.
I don't remember telling you that, but i did drink today,so who knows. But you are right. It wasn't a great game by stats. It wasn't a HOF Qb game. But it was a game that he had accuracy and made good decisions(othe rthan the 1 floater that got intercepted).
I feel you was right on the money. Mangini had a great game plan and as of Pennington I love him as well but its time. He could never win the big game for us. This is coming from a Chad supporter as well but I am now convinced he his not the answer.
If some want to blame a playcall or two..hey..every coach can get hammered for a few decisions. If you want to blame Mangini for the direction of the team since he took over...heavy medication would be a much better idea. Besides a brief period under Parcells, I cant remember ever being more sure of the direction of this franchise. Who the qb is today or tomorrow means nothing towards the overall picture..whether an onside kick is right or wrong will never change the decisions this front office and coaching staff have made since their arrival. A year or two from now...this game and this shutout will not even be remembered. The detractors need to take a deep breath and remember the last couple years of insanity between draft picks and gametime decisions that began to be remodeled and reshaped this past summer. Should Chad be starting? Should we have gone for it on fourth down? Should we have attempted an onside kick? All good debate...but lets not lose focus on whats been a hell of a retooling job by a gm...and a rookie coach that as some detractors like to point out "only the Jets wanted".
