Thank you chicowalker. I agree. Also, I think people keep underestimating this years team because we had to start over with our WR's. But we're clicking now...just in time for the playoffs.
Yes.. I love the nickname... and your right... they're basically even stat wise... except chad was comming off 2 injuries and the jets won more games
i dont think the loss of mangini was huge, but i think the loss of weis, romeo and mangini is pretty big
this was supposed to be a joke, right? i hardly think the loss of mangini is going to be anywhere near as DEVASTATING as you proclaim (major homer post here)!!! he was defensive coordinator for one year for christ's sake. he still in the process of learning to be a good coach. i have high hopes for him BUT, it is just his first season and he's had a lot of things go his way this year. lets see what happens over the next couple of seasons before we can actually say he's a good coach, (never mind comparing him to belichicken) he has a long long long way to go before he measure's up to belichicken. as do the jets for that matter. i have high hope's for the jets also but, new england is going to be great for as long as they have BRADY/BELI on that team. jets taking over the afc east is a pipe dream until it actually happens........
We'll see about the AFC East next year, won't we Schmoe? In the meantime, do me a favor, because we may not even have to wait until next year to unhinge your love affair with Bill Belichick. Tune in to CBS at 1PM this Sunday. You're about to find out how much old Billy-Boy misses his DC.
If Mangini can win next year with much higher expectations and playing a better NFC division, then we can start talking about his place in the anals of football history. Right now he's like the equivalent of a younger Jon Gruden or something...
I agree with your thinking, we will never know how much BB talked up Mangini to Kraft and the betrayal he felt when Eric left, it is quite possible BB planned on leaving the game in less than three years to pursue other interests or just bask in the glory of his accomplishments. But his behaviour has been bizarre to say the least, but there will be much that will be revealed when we see BB's first book...I don't think he has many good friends in his inner circle, and Eric may have been one of a very few but as the old adage says 'time heals old wounds' or maybe they have spoken since or EM sent him an email, but it does make for a good rivalry in the news.... Like I said, it is all just speculation...but the NE NY thing is good for business...
Mangini was a far bigger gain for the Jets than he was a loss for the Pats. Dean Pees has the Pats D playing better this year than last year under Mangini. The Pats were 2nd in the league in points allowed this year.
227, i try to look at football from a reallistic perspective and not with homer glasses on. you seem unable to see the truth and only green. do i like belichicken as a football coach, you bet, he's a proven winner. as far as tuning in to the game, i'll be there!!! as far as who i think will win it, the pats by more than 10. b/c they are playoff battle tested and tough. also, it's a lot to ask of this team to win this one with a first year coach and less talent. brady against pennington in the playoff's has to make a jet's fan worry (unless he only see's green like you)! i'll go as far as to wager any amount of funds you would be willing to scrounge up (i say that b/c, you don't come across as the brightest bulb on the tree) that the jets just are not ready for the pats this year and will LOSE. IF YOU LOSE THE BET, YOU BETTER PAY UP,AS WILL I, or i'll let the whole board know what a welch you are. as far as next year, that will be a true test for mangini, the schedule will be much tougher than the cream puff schedule we had this year. but untill he's proves himself next year, i'm not biting into the mangenious bull thats going around now. prove it over more than one season, i say. i have watched some 40 seasons of jets football to know, 1 year does not make a coach great. show some balls and make the bet section 227, we can announce it as a thread in itself, so as you don't welch without all of ganggreen knowing it. i'll start with a $100, unless you want to go higher.i'll even give you 5 point spread!!!!
Agreed. I thought the AFC East would be the Pats and 3 .500 or under teams this year. The fact that we actually had a second decent team and the Bills alive in the playoff race until late was a pleasant surprise. I see next year as a dogfight between the Pats, Jets and Bills and it will be a wonderful race to watch.
There is no question in my mind that Belichik was grooming Mangini to be his successor. He wanted to be able to pick and choose his retirement date and he saw Mangini as the guy who would step up and take over then, albeit with Belichik getting a nice 6 figure stipend as team VP and consultant. As to whether or not losing Mangini could end Belichik in New England, well that's completely up to Belichik. He's won 3 Super Bowls and has nothing left to prove. Does he decide to compete with Mangini for the mantle of best coach in the AFC East or does he decide to walk away and take a break, effectively snubbing Mangini? I think the odds he walks away are much better if the Patriots beat the Jets and go on to another Super Bowl. If they lose to the Jets on Sunday Belichik will be pissed off all winter and will definitely be back next season.
shit, 6 first day picks for the pats? that spells trouble. Plus they got like 30 mill to play with. i hope they dont go after briggs
you seem to be suggesting mangini is already a great coach with just one season of coaching under his belt. next season will be a better test for his coaching abillities when they play a much tougher schedule. also, lets see what happens with this weekends game.
How about we start by you kissing my ass in Macy's window on New Year's Eve? With 37 posts under your scrawny little belt, you won't be "letting this board know" anything because you have zero credibility here to date. I'm supposed to trust an obviously semi-illiterate troll with, at best, a 3rd-grade education who can't even punctuate and spell properly let alone reason intelligently to pay up on some kind of bet on a message board? And you're going to spot me a huge 5 points? Gee. That's big of you... says a lot for your confidence too. Let's do this. You want to make this bet, I'm all in. But you have to meet me in person with other guys from the GG to hold the money, unless you're unwilling to do that because you're the snivelling, trolling, spineless, panty-waisted little online coward I suspect you are. Otherwise, I'll be here Monday morning whether the Jets win or lose and my guess is, your trolling, milk-toast, spineless little ass won't be if the Jets win it outright.
WOW ROFLMAO!!!! what a childish rant that was. lol talk about who acts like they have a 3rd grade education. (spelling and punctuate) do you get a prize from some of our fellow jets fans for that? i don't claim to have a crystal ball but, i'm not so much of a green homer to not have forseen this team over achieved, and it was fun to watch. but to think they could beat a playoff tested team with a great coach and qb, all while having less talent, was indeed a pipe dream. in the future maybe you should study football a lot more and use less wishfull thinking. you may come across looking as if you have a clue of what you are talking about in the future. until then, i'll be around to point out when your acting like a moron, as you obviously have throughout this thread and many other's that i have read of yours. lucky you didn't have to honestly take on that bet. i would have felt like i was stealing.
