I read somewhere on hear that someone heard the non PSL fans won't be able to tailgate. Is that true? I don't think it is because from what I am hearing there will be Club Parking and certain VIP parking but the rest (even though further away from the turnstiles) will be traditional tailgating lots.
If they stop tailgating they may just as well go out of business and sell the team. As it is you will never see the stadium full again anyway on a regular basis.
I know there a is a tailgating zone. I hope they dont think they can force all the tailgating into 1 section
Priority in order of Jets fans who attend games: 1. Tailgating 2. Beating Traffic 3. Watching some of the game.
1. Tailgating 2. Waiting on line to buy Beer 3. Waiting on line for the Mens Room 4. Beating Traffic 5. Watching some of the game.
And the sad thing coming from a life long Jets fan is that our tailgating is painfully average if not subpar compared to other teams, notably Baltimore, Buffalo and GB. And yes I'm talking from objective experience.
for the last 40 years the Jets have been mediocre. Plus, those 3 cities you mentioned are football towns.
The real list of priorities for the average "fan" attending a Jets game: 1. Letting everyone know you are going to the Jets game, including telling them all week and then calling them from your cell during the game 2. Enjoying a nice $7 hot dog and $11 beer lunch 3. Beating traffic (leaving early in the 3rd quarter usually does the trick or at any point when either team is up 14 points or more) 4. Reading the program ("Oh, Brett Favre is the quarterback now") 5. Sending a few work e-mails from your blackberry 6. Looking at ticket you got from a corporation and thinking to yourself "Who actually pays this much to go to a football match?" 7. Sitting in seat long enough to watch a few plays, realizing you have no idea what's going on, smiling blankly
Tailgating at the new stadium will be very different from what im told. The tailgate parking space hog will be no more. The tailgate throw your trash and garbage all over will be no more. The tailgate open wood fire will be no more. Certain areas will be designated tailgate only zones. Certain areas will be parking only zones. They will encourage vendor tailgating and beer gardens. The wild and crazy stuff we've all been part of and used to will be no more. The comman mans gameday will be no more.Biff and Buffy in dockers and cardigans eating sushi and sipping merlot will replace the jeans and jerseys and hot dog and beer drinking fan.
People need to learn to get in the stadium for kickoff.... we are a team with a kickoff chant, get in there to do it morons.... also, wanna beat traffic?? Wait it out. Every game i've gone to, i've hung out in the parking lot until everyone has gone home. I'm one of the last cars out... that way there is no traffic.
Very good point. It doesn't sound like the new parking lot setup is going to help matters much either. Where is the fan appreciation? Geez.
I only attend around one game a season and never tailgate. That being said, all I give a shit about is the quality of football played on the field.
It's going to be exactly the same with maybe a beer garden serving as an outside bar to serve the fans that will be coming from the soon to be more common mass transit line. No one is going to lose their precious tailgate.
that's why i prefer to tailgate at 'away games' because once i get to my seat i can urinate right there on the concrete. even better in the winter because the steam coming off the seat-back and pony tail in front of me is pretty cool.
"Certain areas will be designated tailgate only zones. Certain areas will be parking only zones. They will encourage vendor tailgating and beer gardens. The wild and crazy stuff we've all been part of and used to will be no more." Dude that is not true. They will have tailgating around the perimeter with beer gardens and such and there will also be VIP parking. However, there will be plenty of traditional tailgating areas to bring your own grill and drink your beer.
