All this proves is that we'll draft a QB in next years draft or trade for one of the Cleveland QBs. They tell Favre it's a 2 year commitment but you know this regime will just snip him at years end if he proves to be junk. Tangini is a ruthless regime they don't seem to give a f*** when it comes to player loyalty exiling Vilma DRob and now Pennington all faces of the team only last season. Looking at the big picture I'd rather have Favre out there this year instead of Noodle OR Clemens who clearly sucks balls... Either way we were going to see a draftee or diff prospect at the helm next year before Favre was even here and still will after this year. He's basically like an 8th inning guy...

EDIT: And that's all if he's a flop. Maybe we catch lightning in a bottle again and go deep we'll wait and see...

If anything, this should clear up the QB situation in regards to the future. Clemens is now officially out as the QB of the future, so they should watch Ainge this year and decide whether he's the guy or not. If not, then they should take one First day next season, if he appears to be, then grab one later on to compete/be a backup. And either way, drop KC.

To be honest this is a win now move. If Favre proves to be junk Tangini may be looking for other employment. This team spent 140 million this offseason and now traded for one of the greatest QB's ever to play the game. They did that to win this year or next no screwing around.

    well...not completely
barring an injury where kellen proves to be the guy or
a losing season which ends in favre retiring...then us drafting the qb of the future
kellen would likely get at least half a season as the qb with the rookie in waiting

Tannenbaum just went to the Casino and put the whole load down on a pair of 2's and pulled a winning hand with sweat pouring off his forehead.

Spent like drunken sailors, gave away draft picks with no QB on the roster, hold a QB comp that proves the worst fears and Favre falls in their laps. This is very un Jets like.

This may turn out to be Werblin signing Namath? Without that one move the Jets may well not exist today. However this turns out, I love the outright desperation this management is showing to win. My biggest frustration as a Jets fan since Werblin left was the outright complacency of management. Good bad or indifferent you can't accuse this regime of complacency.

I honestly don't expect this to work out in a SB but at least we will be an action team and very eciting to watch come Sunday.

Where is this trade for Cleveland's QBs bullshit?? ugh.

We will draft a QB soon, I don't know who, but they'll get a guy they can groom. If one don't work, keep searching till you find one.

If Favre is an "8th inning guy," as you say, then what was Vinny? Favre just came off of one of his best seasons. I just don't get your thinking :|

What this tells me is that they know Pennington isn't good enough to take them to the promised land, and they are worried that Clemens might not even be good.

Bringing in Favre buys the Jets another year to groom Clemens to see if he can be what they hoped he could be, and it allows them to compete in the interim. If Pennington were to take the job from Clemens, then Kellen's career in New York wasn't going to be a good one. If Favre takes the job, it's understandable.
