What your going to say: 1)There's no way you can know that. 2)If you have a chance to get an Elite QB you take it. 3)We've got to fix the Offense. 4)Penny and Ramsey aren't the answer. 5)Plug in name (Leinhart, Young, Cutler) is the best because blah, blah, blah ... My response will be ... 1)Because I have common sense, much like the new FO 2)Stop getting caught up in the Draft Machine Hype, none of those guys are elite ... Leinhart=No Gun, Young=Project, Cutler=Browning Nagle 3)If a quick fix were the REAL goal then you should be yapping about Bush because Rookie QB's and OL are almost never immediate impact players 4)Our front office gave them both lots of cash and no, they won't be taking us to the SB in 2007 but they both are still young and have shown enough that either could win in this rather average league. 5)Stay off the crack it's bad for you. (see response #2)
I agree. There is not one QB to love. I think Leinert would be good in the right sysytem, but would get banged up very easily.
Tis the season for rehashing Additional reply that I missed ... 6)Don't act like you have a life if you are reading these blogs. Admit you are a dork and just keep reading the same useless, uniformed arguments over and over and don't take yourself too seriously. Happiness begins with accepting the nerd within. ENJOY!
Leinert Leinhert will not fall to #4. Why not ... 1) He's won the 2006 Hype Lottery 2) The team that draft's him will sell more useless junk than a Spensers going out of business sale 3) The Jets no longer have the dumbest front office. The Titans, who luckily draft before the Jets. have taken that title. That said, I am writing this with a positive attitude towards the Tangini. I have been let down before and i'm sure i'll be let down again but i've liked their management so far and I have to give them the benefit of the doubt. As a life long Jet fan (30 years) I too await the Messiah, but since the Parcells years I've learned that he will not come in the form of a Quarterback but as a Laptop-using, Contract-negotiating, hartless bastard bent on league conquest. Let's hope these guys are it.
You are completely wrong... there are so many situations in which the Jets will draft a QB in round 1... 1. if Leinart somehow falls to the #4 2. if we trade down at all from the 4 spot, it will be to get Cutler or Young 3. if Penny's healing process is not on par with what the FO wants 4. if they want Cutler or Young, how the hell do we know who they want right now 5. if Cutler or Young are the best options at the 4 spot the possibilites are endless... while you might not think we should take a QB, you have zero say in what they actually do if the fans made the draft choices, we may not have drafted Kyle Brady and Ken O'Brien over Warren Sapp and Dan Marino
Er, was that really necessary? Is it possible for people to make an argument these days without resorting to lame insults? I mean, all it does is emphasize the weakness of your argument anyway. Since you can't come up with any solid claims, you have to rely on stupid diversionary tactics. So sad.
It's not likely that he falls to #4 but possible. 1) Texans - Bush 2) Saints - Williams or Ferguson 3) Titans - Young McNair and Young are close friends and I'm sure McNair is pushing for him. I don't know how much that means if anything. I know their OC used to coach Lienart. Like I said, it's not likely but I wouldn't completely rule it out.
Sorry The crux of my Response #6 was not to poke fun at those using the board, after all I AM USING THE BOARD. The point was to say lets not take ourselves too seriously. Obviously I have no inside knowledge of the Jets draft plans (or do I, hehe). Just like everyone else here I am nerding it up and promoting discussion. I think this thread touches at the very heart of the anxiety we are all feeling, what is this front office thinking and what can we expect for the next few years. It all starts with that damn #4 pick. Once again I did not mean to offend, I just think it's great to see if someone can come up with something that could change my mind.
We all know that the FO has little faith in Chad's arm, and both he and Ramsey essentially have one year deals. Ramsey is NOT the future of this franchise. While I agree that we may not use the top pick on a QB this year, if we pass up on Leinart, Cutler, or Young, then we have to take a QB round 1 next year no questions asked.
Method to their madness Agreed, there is a very real possibility that Chad's will return with the arm of a 10 year old girl and that Ramsey will be the guy that Gibbs kicked to the curb. But lets assume that Tangini has some level of confidence in what they've tried to accomplish so far ... Chad is a proven commodity when healthy. Without the cuff problems what would he have been worth this year on the open market? (I know its a "What If" but just endulge me for a second) Chad can bring an NFL team W's when healthy he has proven it. As far as confidence from the front office my answer is "He's still a Jet". Ramsey on the other hand has played in the NFL, and at times showed he can play at a high level. Does young Schotty think he can Breesify him, could be. I've got a few friends that are die hard Skins fans and they believe that P-Ram got a raw deal. I think Tangini see's a diamond in the rough and a good value. Either way I do not believe they have any intention of letting a Rookie take that season opening snap this year. They will follow the Patriot model that brought a Dynasty (still makes me sick to my stomach) and they will look for a guy with high upside later in the draft (ie a Brodie Croyle)
2 words... Brodie Croyle The Jets don't have to JUMP at the QB position this year. If they play thier cards right we'll have a very productive draft, AND we most likely end up with what will prove to be the best QB to come out of this draft... Brodie Croyle. It's a stretch, but none of the so called "Big 3 QB's" in this draft impress me in the least, infact, I don't think there will be a very good pro out of the bunch. Ellis

WhiteShoeWillie You reply really does cut to the heart of the matter. Obviously Bush will go #1 to whomever has that pick when the clock stops. The 2-3 Pick will be some combination of either Dbrick and Williams Dbrick and a QB or Williams and a QB Those of us that do not feel that any of the Big 3 are worthy of all that comes with the "franchise qb" title, including the huge commitment factor are hoping that this new front office does indeed GET IT and takes a player like Williams or Hawk or manipulates a trade downward. To those of tired of chasing after the sexy picks that the media shoves down our necks this will be a pivotal decision for the future of this franchise for the next 3-5 years. On the other hand I do believe that Bush is player to build a franchise around much like Marshall Faulk. He is special and if you're gonna go for it go all the way and give away the farm for a player of his caliber.
I'd be LOST without them The secret of the numbers is actually a formula that will break the Jets curse.
 Lets hope it works. Now on the thread itself. Just about the only QB I want is Matt Leinart, which would have to be at #2. I wouldn't mindif the Jets trade down to like 9 or so picking up another 2nd rounder in the process... But if it's a QB round 1...Leinart or Cutler...Screw Vince "Bust" Young
