Until this team is in the gutter. Who ever thought that an 8-8 team that was a handful of plays away from the AFC east battle and a playoff spot, who had a horrible year and were still a breath away from another shot at playing for the superbowl, could be viewed as if they are the NYJ's or yesteryear. Steven A. Smith's latest contribution - Sanchez Has to Go. http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/7413835/new-york-jets-sanchez-not-just-schottenheimer-go
after yesterday's awful preformance..this is a city that demands greatness (to the media)..look at eli with the giants..under the brightest lights its shine like a star or don't bother
When you have a coach that says we are going to win the SB, as well as the million of other stupid things he does you deserve the heat.
Not sure if you get it. If you don't BELIEVE you're going to win the Super Bowl, you never will. Part of Rex's psychology he instills in players is that belief system. And when you believe something, you don't tip toe around it and hedge your bets. You act on it. Get used to it. Rex's technique uses a fundamental basis for how the human brain works.
I don't know in what world an 8-8 team that isn't good enough to make the playoffs was actually a breath away from another shot at playing for the Super Bowl, but I am glad I am smart enough to not qualify for admittance.
The entire Giant fanbase wanted Eli gone after his first 3 years. And even after they won it in 2007, Giants' fans are up and down on him.
Welcome to being a Jet fan in NY...the media has never forgiven Namath for making a fool out of Baltimore and the "NFL". They never will. It's something you just live with when you sign up to be a fan here.
Yeah, Stephen A Smith is basketball and basketball only. Everyone likes to say so and so should be gone, but you can't just let someone go and trade 1st round picks for someone you want. This is not madden.
It's sad that Stephen A has reached the point in his career where he has to say silly outlandish things in order to get anyone to listen to his show.
The goal is always a SB, Rex just over does the promises, gurantees and all the talk of rings like they are some Popsicle sticks.
While I don't like what Stephen said hes making some solid points. Its clear watching this season play out that the offense held us back. Yes the defense didn't play lights out all year but the offense HAS to be able to bail out the defense every now and then or at least move the ball with some kind of consistency. As much as Rex/Tannenbaum like to defend the QB/OC there's obviously a serious problem on the offensive side of the ball and it has to be addressed 27th pass/22nd run offense is completely unacceptable and I'm amazed we even won 8 games with that kind of production on offense.
Stephen A. thought that if you kicked a field goal on 3rd down and missed that you got another chance at kicking it. The man knows nothing about football.
"it is clear that Mark Sanchez has to go. That Brian Schottenheimer should exit with him. That the same should be considered with Santonio Holmes. And if Rex Ryan so much as utters a word of dissent, the New York Jets need to kick his butt out the door, too." "I believe in this team and I believe in my quarterback," Ryan continues to say. "I'll never apologize for that." Perhaps if he did, that would be a good start."" Lets get rid of our HC,OC,QB, and WR? Great plans, who is going to fill those spots. Second quote: What should he do, tell them media Sanchez isnt the direction we are going in now? With no obvious replacement or backup plan this would be a terrible idea.
no complaints from me..He has another year, 2 tops in my books before i write him off. But it comes with the NY media Territory.
