I drew my inspiration from a quote on another post: With that in mind, here's the situation, which would you rather find the Jets in next week, or in any other game, for that matter. Up by 2, but the Falcons (or any generic other team) have the ball, 3 minutes left, at their own 30, with all 3 timeouts. OR Down by 2 with the ball, 3 minutes left, starting from the 30, with all 3 timeouts and 3 minutes to go.
this is dumb... we have a shitty do-or die offense and a great defense... why wouldn't you want the lead?
my knee jerk reaction is to agree, take the lead, but when I sit back and picture the situation, I can feel my sphincter tighten just thinking about the first scenario, but I'd feel pretty good about the second. Logically I want the lead, but my stomach says I want the ball to end the game
you would always rather have the ball but this offense has had a bit of a problem with turning the ball over so i dont trust them to end it out for the team. beer and prayer have worked in the past. i will put my faith in them again!
I'll take the D. They may have blown a couple of games but they are still more reliable than the offense. They also won us the first NE game and the Titans game in a similar situation where they had to make a stop at the end and they did. Of course nobody remembers those.
Easy call. Take away the time outs on D, and it gets tougher. But this D, trust it, given time outs. I guess the team matters a little. Against the Colts, Pats or Saints, teams with really good O's maybe id take the ball, otherwise, D no brainer.
