He told Mangini not to come here because the team was run in a piss poor manner and he would stunt his career. Belichick resigned as HC of the NYJ because the team front office was a joke. Even after Woody took over nothing changed. This is a sad time to be a Jets fan.
Dave you are crazy...everything was in place for a playoff run this season..Mangina played "not to lose" and conservitive down the stretch, plus he couldn't motivate his team in the last 1/4 of the season...he was in over his head, he should take an assistant job and then look to be a head coach in a couple of years....
Belichik resigned because Kraft was willing to throw money at him and because he was going to have final say on personnel decisions and because he liked the Pats more than he liked the Jets because he grew up in New England. The only slim chance that he would have stayed with the Jets would have involved Parcells resigning and walking away from the franchise after the 1999 season. Belichik had no interest in being under Parcell's thumb any more. He was done with that.
Belichick left the Jets not because of the structure of the team. He left because he was being paid 3x what the Jets were going to pay him. Parcells and Belicick were a package deal when Hess brought them in to the team. After Parcells resigned as HC Belicik was due to make $750K. Kraft was offering $2M plus. Belichick left the Jets high and dry and after the Spygate scandal and adultery charges just shows me that the man has no morals and is a son of a b***h
No, it's the FO's fault that they bitch-slapped the balls off of Mangini and told him to play 'whatever way it is that Favre plays'. Beli was right...
just because u work ur ass off doesn't make u a good coach. All u hear is "Mangini had 2 winning seasons out of 3 but if u look at his 1st year our schedule was so weak and we didn't beat ANYBODY his 1st year with a .500 or better record. Then his 3rd year we started to lose to teams with records WAY UNDER 500
I totally agree. The Jets lack loyalty and continuity. The front office has always seemed to manage like little kids. Instant gratification. Favre look shiny and cool. Lets drop Pennington like a bad habit even though he's always proven to be good with a good O line. Mangini didn't throw a bunch of random free agents together in 1 season and win a super bowl...lets can him. It's a shame.
Mangini wasn't ready to be HC, plain and simple. He dug this hole for us, he made it a mess. What did you expect us to do, stay with the Mangina for the sake of continuity?
Who gives a s**T I'm glad Belicheck left, if the whole spygate thing happened to the Jets, I probably wouldn't be a fan anymore.
