The season is over at this point. Why are we happy about this win? All it does is put us in a worse position to draft a potential franchise QB like Mariota or Winston. Being at 2 wins with games left against teams like Tennessee and Minnesota is going to likely put us in worse position to draft a franchise QB. These guys likely aren't going to be left at 5-10, if thats where we are drafting. For those of you that say you don't want to draft a QB early in the draft, then who do you expect us to go to? Geno and Vick aren't leading us to the playoffs next year. If we don't draft someone early, what is the solution?
The amount of Winston hate on this site is fucking retarded lmao. Go ahead and quote me and change my post you lame ass children. I dont even want Jameis to waste his superior football talents on this trash ass franchise anyway. Lets take Mariota and continue looking for another QB in a few years
Its amazing it really is fucking amazing, you people are just unreal, complaining that we lose every week now complaining that we won
Losing is the worst thing a team can do. Sucking for Luck only works if Andrew Luck is out there and if he turns out to be as good as people say he is. I'd much rather the Jets go 6-10 and pick whoever is there on the 9 pick instead of going 2-14 and giving us likely no better shot at a franchise QB than we'd have down low. Mariotta and Winston both look like they'll be top 5 picks. It's going to be really easy for the best QB in the draft next year to go on the 9 to 12, just like Ben Roethlisberger did in another deep QB year.
Why should we root for wins? Will it at all help this team going forward? What exactly will wins give us for the future?
In the future, I'll try to convince the franchise to suck only in years preceding a decent QB draft class. Sadly, college football has screwed us this year by producing no QBs that are worth a top 5 pick.
Mariota and Winston definitely won't be available past the top 5 picks, and trading up is going to be way too expensive.
Yup. This one is going to hurt. I'm sure it's a nice, feel good win for some people, maybe even most, but I'm looking long term. We just kicked ourselves right out of the running for a top QB, whether you believe that's Winston or Mariota. I wouldn't even be surprised if this win saved Rex's job for this year.
Give me a break, Mariota's going #1 and the Raiders are just going to trade the #1 pick to someone for a king's ransom cause they have their QB and there's no way we'd be two games worse than them the rest of the season to drop below them with their schedule anyway. Winston in NY would be TOXIC.
It does help our future if it leads to Idzik and Rex staying. Yes I said Idzik too, he's gotten a bad rap...his drafts have mostly been good, and his trade of a 4th round pick for Ivory was genius as well. He's made a couple mistakes, sure, but overall Idzik has done a pretty good job. I was blinded by the haters, but upon careful analysis I now see clearly that both Idzik and Rex deserve to be back.
