https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/26881107/2019-nflrank-predicting-nfl-best-100-players-season 55. Le'Veon Bell RB | Jets Age: 27 2018 rank: 7 The Jets expect to get the 2017 version of Bell: a dynamic runner and receiver who can take pressure off Sam Darnold and create favorable matchups for other skill players. Bell will be a big factor in the passing game, lining up outside the backfield. But can the Jets' pedestrian offensive line provide the running room he had in Pittsburgh? -- Rich Cimini Signature stat: According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Bell had a 14.1% stuff rate (carries for no gain or loss) during his past two seasons in Pittsburgh, best among RBs with 100 rush attempts in that span. Jets RBs were stuffed on 26.2% of their carries in 2018, worst in the league. 2019 projection: 1,654 scrimmage yards, 9 TDs 61. Jamal Adams S | Jets Age: 23 2018 rank: NR Adams is one of the premier box safeties in the league -- fast, instinctive and tenacious. He lines up as a quasi-linebacker most of the time, allowing him to dominate at the line of scrimmage. Problem is, he doesn't make enough plays in pass coverage (one interception in two years) to be considered an elite, two-way safety. -- Rich Cimini Signature stat: Adams' 44 stops -- tackles resulting in a successful play for the defense based on yards to go by down -- last season led all defensive backs in the NFL, according to NFL Next Gen Stats. 2019 projection: 107 tackles, 1 INTs 91. C.J. Mosley ILB | Jets Age: 27 2018 rank: 81 The Jets wanted Mosley so badly in free agency that they gave him $17 million a year, a then-record for an off-the-ball linebacker. He's the quarterback of the defense as a smart, tough tackling machine, and it's no accident that he has made four Pro Bowls. The Jets expect him to galvanize a unit that has talent on all three levels. -- Rich Cimini Signature stat: Mosley has 21 pass breakups in his career, which is fourth most among linebackers since 2014. 2019 projection: 129 tackles, 1.0 sack
Cimini is a fucking tool. Does he have to put a negative spin on EVERYTHING? I hate that he represents us in articles like these.
Won't be long before Sam Darnold joins the ranks of Le'Veon Bell, Jamal Adams and C.J Mosley. I'm hoping a trio of Leonard Williams, Quinnen Williams and Robby Anderson can all crack elite status as well; the talent is there. Marcus Maye is a potential top 100 player too. If healthy that is.
Robby should be there too. If Darnold makes the leap in year two Robby could have a monster season. Bell is the real deal, a dual threat weapon similar to Marshall Faulk. I just worry what kind of shape he'll be in to start the season he may not be in true NFL game shape until midseason or later and if Gase will use him enough.
Yeah I guess maybe this is a discussion for another thread but I feel like it might be a good general strategy early in the year to not lean to heavy on Bell. Not even so much because of Bell himself (although that's part of it) but because you've got a fully charged Powell and Montgomery on hand ready to go let them handle at least a decent slice of the load early on. Then as we get later on in the season let Bell hammer away at whats left of the opposition. Game flow dependent of course. If the Jets are struggling in a tied game that goes out the window but if we are either way ahead or behind.....
looking at the full list now and i have to say the QBs on that list are way overrated. they have mayfield, watson, and goff ahead of bell? how does that make sense? bell is a 3 time pro bowler, 2 time 1st team all pro and 1 time 2nd team all pro. Also tyler locket isn't list worthy. he's the dude everyone hypes as going to explode every year but he never does. he's a mediocre WR. I'd take robby over him on the list. other then that though it's a solid overall list which is a hard thing to compile. also lol at only 1 giant (barkley) and 1 bill (white at 97) jets have more then the rest of the NY teams combined
Bell didn't play last year. That and he's a Jet now which brings him down several notches in the media's eyes. Jamal Adams is a top 20 maybe even top 10 NFL talent look where they rank him. This is why I no longer pay much attention to what's in the media. Their opinions are subjective, I question their knowledge of the game and to me there's a clear bias against the Jets by many in the media.
