I liked this line: "Still don’t think he’s bright? He just convinced the Buffalo Bills to give him a 6-year/$60M deal."
Think about all the great college QBs who've had million dollar arms and who've crashed and burned in the NFL. The rap against most of them is that they could never learn to read defenses, grasp the speed of the game, make good decisions, etc ... That doesn't mean that every QB has to be as smart as Fitzpatrick on the Wonderlic, but it means that being smart enough to process what's happening on the field (see it, recognize it, act on it) is a key ingredient in being a successful QB. I'd say it's probably much more important than having a great arm -- see one Thomas Brady, that skinny kid the Pats drafted in the sixth round in 2000. As much as we hate Brady, the fact is that it's not his arm or even Belichick's system that makes him great, but his ability to recognize what's going on on the field and act on it.
I like how you started the article with 'lovely Western New York'. I think the key feature of Buffalo's architecture and landscape is rust.
...aaah so you've been! actually there are some really nice areas up there - finger lakes for example...
Ya Lawst!!! LAWST!!!! yuuz yah noogin. Wadda Ya mean it haz nothin to do wit Belichek's system. It's all about da system! And Fitz Patrick aint dat great at readin da defense. Most of da time he goes to hiz first read. jeesh I mean ka'mon
I live in buffalo and aside from the bills and sabres fans there really is a lot to like about the place. Great architecture, good arts scene and nice neighborhoods. Sure their sports teams suck and they get all talkity with any sign of a chance at success but the place itself is very nice. Go Jets!
