As a Pats fan and a fan of pro football in general, the Jets need to make the playoffs. Your wild card competitors are not good football teams.

What Patriot fan in their right mind would prefer a Pats/Bengals game over a Pats/Jets playoff rematch? Not even close in entertainment value. The Pats could win the next 4 regular season games in addition to the two they won this year, and it still wouldn't make up for last season's playoff beat down.

Pats need to beat the Jets when it counts to get that monkey off their back.

IMO, Jets only need to go 2-1 to get in. I don't see any of the other 3 winning out. Rooting for the Jets to handle the Eagles. I don't want to be sweating out BOTH the Giants and Dolphins games. Good Luck, hoping our teams meet again in the playoffs. If it happens, it should be a barn burner.

Agree. Jets need to step it up and take care of business though. Never have I rooted for Brady as much as this week. I hope he gives Tebow a lesson in what a great QB is, by throwing for at least four TDs

thanks for the support, I think

but, it's possible that the Jets and Pats might not just meet until the AFC Championship game which would require the Pats to win a playoff game at home to get to...... something that hasn't occured since defensive wireless signals in helmets was introduced

We need to win all 3 because the Titans will win the next 3. And you really don't want the Jets in the playoffs, why would you? We will beat you. The Pats are made for the regular season, they can't win in the playoffs, same team as the last 2 years. One and done.

Not for nothing, I think NE would be just fine playing a team like the Bengals/Titans/Raiders in the playoffs.

As a Jets fan, it would be cool to play and beat NE again in the playoffs, but I want the easiest route to the SB possible. Forget fantasy matchups...

I realize what you're implying but, shocker of shockers, I don't buy the spy gate
crap. I'm shocked that there has not been a really thorough investigative book into the stealing(and filming) of signals. I suppose coaches from this era would have to be retired before they opened their mouths. I believe Jimmy Johnson when he says it was no competitive advantage and that everyone was doing it although not as brazenly as BB.

They were accused of stealing defensive signals, right? Yet their O has remained among the top 3 in the league. The playoff losses, and the putrid D they now field, are IMO the direct result of terrible drafting on the defensive side and BB's ego being so large that he assumed he could just coach up inferior players. Brace, Butler,Merriweather, Wilhite and a boat load of other defensive draft picks have bombed, not to mention Bodden. Pats need a good player personnel director, not always changing defensive signals. Flame away.

Assumed he could coach up inferior players, or did a bad job of coaching up reasonable ones? I'm thinking specifically of Merriweather, who I really don't think is that bad a player.

That's exactly why I want the Jets to get in, to dispel that myth. The Pats are not the Skins, Chiefs and Broncos. I want to see the Jets beat the Pats in the playoffs again. I say it won't happen, you say it will. That's why I want the Jets in, to prove it on the field.

The Pats will lose in the 1st rd. to anyone but the Broncos, god forbid. Its not the Jets, its the Pats that suck in the playoffs. Pussy basketball type football.

As opposed to 8-5 tough man football? Jets are by no means a tough team this year. As for the Pats playoff record? The fact that a Jet fan can bring that up because of a single playoff victory in Foxboro is laughable. No SB's since 1969.
In the last 10 years the Pats pussy playoff football has them at 14-5 while going to 4 SB's and winning 3. Jet's fans get orgasmic because the lost 2 AFCG's in a row. This thread is going away from my original intention of rooting for the Jets to make the playoffs.

i respect that you want payback for last years game, but i wouldnt want to face the jets if i were the pats.

doesnt matter what happened when you guys swept us. just look at 45-3, and the next playoff game, and that shows how insane jet/pat games can be.

You do realize Jets fans are crazy? The Jets could miss the playoffs and the Pats could go to the SB and Jets fans would still be saying you lost to us at Gillette in last years playoffs.

I want the Pats to beat the Jets and beat them badly, in the playoffs. I don't care about "easier road" scenarios.

Just like Pats fans were talking about 45-3 after the Jets kicked their team in the face in Gillette in the playoffs. Fans remember what is convenient. 'Fan' is a derivative of 'fanatic' for a reason.

Notice I said go to the SB, not win the SB. The Pack looks like they will spoil Don Shula's champagne party this year.

I like this topic, and the OP seems to be pretty fair minded.

A Jets/Pats playoff match would settle a lot this year. We got swept this year and they got beat by us last year in the postseason; both teams would definitely have something to prove in another match this (post)season.

Let's just hope it happens. I think the Jets will make the playoffs, but depending on the matchups and how our teams do we might not play each other very soon or at all.
