I just found some Vids on NFL.com where they rate the top 10 nicknames, and i was very surprised not to find the Sack Exchange in there. I?m not that much into NFL History (exept Jets History), so could some of you (especially the older guys) pls give me your opinon on this list. Does the Sack Exchange really have no buisness beeing on that list, or did they just leave out the Jets once again. 1. America?s Team 2. Steel Curtain 3. The Hogs 4. Fearsome Foursome 5. Purple People Eaters 6. The Greatest show on turf 7. Air Coryell 8. No Name Defense 10. Monsters of the Midway I couldn?t find #9 for some reason. If you want to view the Vids, just go to NFL.com Videosearch and type in "top ten nicknames".
The Sack Exchange should definitely be on that list. Not only were they really good (2 guys with 20 sacks in the same year) but the name was very well known. The names I don't think should be there are America's Team, The Hogs and maybe even the No Name Defense although they were pretty well known too. Certainly the Sack Exchange should be above all 3 of those.
Just like almost everything else about the Dallas Cowboys, I absolutely hate the America's Team nickname. That said, it still belongs above the New York Sack Exchange on any memorable team nickname lists. Other memorable nicknames- Doomsday Defense Over the Hill Gang The Electric Company Grits Blitz
I think #9 was the Grits Blitz if i remember correctly. To be honest i really dont think we belong on that list. Maybe like 7 8 or 9, but in the long run does it really matter?
Let's face it - The Jets aren't and shouldn't be on any top 10 list. For a team that hasn't won in almost 40 years - let's be serious
the one and only issue with the sack exchange was - injuries. there weren't many games that the unit was together without someone being hurt. ankles, hamstrings, groins, and even patella tendons - you name it, they had it. gastinueau was perhaps the most durable, only missing extended time in 86 i believe. IMO all they needed was an injury free (or close to it) run of about 3 -4 years or so and that would have landed them on the list. jil
Oh Hell, I forgot about the Falcons GRITS BLITZ - that one was awsome back in the day when I was a kid!

I am a diehard Jets fan. But you have to face the facts, the Jets haven't stepped foot into a Super Bowl in the last 40 years. They deserve to be the joke of the league.
The Dolphins had the Killer Bee's. 6 starters on D names started with B. That was the strike year they beat us in the AFC title game.
i know were ur coming from, but i wouldnt say the joke of the league, 5 playoff apps w/2 div titles in the last 10 seasons makes us far from the joke of the league
yeah joke of the league is a stretch... of NY could be better. Were are the team with the longest drought. the Knicks come in a close 2nd, but have made it to the finals twice.
