It really does get worse, doesn't it? http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...s-unprepared-vs-chargers?campaign=Twitter_atl
This franchise is a shitstorm.... you have to be kidding me. How the fuck is the back up QB not prepared especially after he realized Geno wasn't at the meeting ?
Michael Vick is on vacation this season. Every time I see him on the sideline he's got his hat turned sideways and he's staring at his shoelaces. Fucking dude is in cruise control, probably thinking about what team he can start for next season.
It is totally unacceptable. Really though, thats a cuttable offense. This happened in Buffalo years ago with Billy Jo Hobert. He was a backup and got called to action and played horribly. He admitted he wasn't prepared either after the game and they released him immediately. http://articles.latimes.com/1997/oct/16/sports/sp-43372 You have to be prepared to play as the backup QB under any circumstance. Especially since Vick knew what he was getting into here. He signed up for this and had to hear people calling for him to play. It's lazy and totally unacceptable for him to not be prepared. I expect no discipline because this is Rex Ryan's team but another coach in this league might release him for that.
I think this just makes me go back to what DeMario Davis said about the lack of preparation. How many players were ready to go last Sunday against S.D
Vick is an asshole for not being responsible here but this is also a reflection of the head coach. It certainly appeared as if he wasn't prepared.
It was obvious Vick was not prepared during the game, but I thought that was all lack of practice opportunities, not as he strongly implies now that he simply did not put in the work as a significant factor. I still think with practice, with the first team, he would be more effective than Smith by a long shot, but this is also a discipline/attitude problem. That being the case I say activate Simms and see what he can do with that same practice and opportunity. Why not? At least see if he should stay in the plans going forward. Somebody like him just might pick it up if he gets the chance, and last year is no proof he will fail this year.
I wish the Jets had a real archive on their shitty website of all of his press conferences. I'd do a montage of all of the ridiculous idiocy the guy has said over the years. Just end this nightmare.
Jets had some awesome years with Rex, but football coaching is about more than just X's and O's. Players complaining about lack of discipline, players complaining about lack of preparation. As much as I love Rex, Jets need a disciplitarian now.
Hahah that's the best part. I can't remember the last time I actually sat down and listened to a Rex press conference ... it's been at least 3 years.
