While I enjoy watching Mangini and Herm on ESPN I feel the former is wasting his time. He did a fine job with this football team I really think he should get out of sports media and back with an NFL team. If he wants a desk job or assistant job here, great. If not he's a great football mind who deserves a shot as a front office guy or coach on some other team.
Nah bro I said that Tanny made the personnel decisions when Mangini was here and still makes them with Rex here which would mean that Tannenbaum made both the good and bad decisions. Really? Because of the three role players the Browns acquired they released Coleman 2 years later, waived Ratliff after a year, and Elam is rapidly becoming a journey-man who, after this year will have played for 3 teams in the past 3 years. Now lets look at what Cleveland did with their 17th and 52nd picks (which I admit was more the work of then-GM George Kokinis than Mangini but I have heard that Mangini was instrumental in getting this trade done with the Jets). At #17 the Browns traded down and selected center Alex Mack at #21 which was an excellent pick. They squandered the other pick they received from the Jets though on David Veikune who was waived after the 2009 season. If we look at these moves as a "track record" for Mangini's success (which besides the Sanchez trade he is said to have played a large role in we probably can't do) then the only information that we have to go on would, IMO indicate that Mangini would likely not be a very good GM
