First they geled together and then they took off. Then something happened either before or immediately after the Denver "Ice Cold Rain Game". And that was it. Suddenly they can't pass, can't stop the run, can't defend the pass and they consistantly steered away from the running game. Seems like they just quit. What was said?
i wasn't there lol But im assuming when he gets fired, it will come out that he was an incredible dick, and full of him self etc... vet teams don't respond well to that, especially not from unproven ball boys. Jay Glazer report today on fox is the first of many to come, i believe...
The defense sprang leaks two weeks before vs. the Pats in the 2nd half. They just barely hang on. Kerry Collins was too slow and immobile to capitalize the following week.
I'll tell you something tangible that happened. Fatso finally cut J-mil after messing with him for 2 years and then tried to screw DK. I posted this elsewhere--he has none of the presence of a leader who guys will fight for. When things are good, this doesn't matter much but when things are bad, they tend to stay bad. I think he was perceived as not respecting the players as people and they in turn could not respect him and go the extra mile.
i agree with that, hes always a scumbag to players,, even the way he runs his inactive list is a joke.. noone responds to that.. why after only 2 seasons as a head coach, he was number 2 earlier in the year in SI poll for top 5 coaches players don't want to play for... what does that tell you. he hasn't even been around long enough to know guys, but they know enough that they dont want to play for him
...The wins? Really? Seasons done dude. 9-7. Thats all non-fans will see of the record. No one's comparing it to Arizona's record, or other playoff teams records. 9-7 is a winning, but didn't quite make it season.
I always thought that Mangini lost this team after the Pete Kendall incident... I know no one else will agree with me, but that's OK. But honestly, when he assigned a proven vet like Kendall to the rookie dorm while they left him twisting in the wind? That was classless and foolish. And the team vets did not forget it. And all Kendall did was help lead the Redskins to the playoffs, while the Jets floundered because their OL fell to pieces. Also, I remember a comment made by a Jets veteran during the celebration of the Super Bowl win... It was sometime earlier in this season. I forget who it was but it was along the lines of: "There are too many guys coaching in the NFL who never played the game." It was a very pointed remark, and I do not think he said it until after he had spoken with some of the current players. So the signs are there. Mark my words: Mangini will be gone before the end of this week.
How do you know he is a "scumbag" to players? Have you been in the lockerroom? Do you talk to the players? Or do you just trust guys in the media?
true, i have no real knowledge of what goes on.. My take is, every year there seems to be some dispute with players.. They way he runs the inactive list, its not productive. i don't think players respond well to his style.. if they had we would have won more than 1 game down the stretch, i truly believe that.. Years ago when al groh was here, (i liked him allot) i thought he did a good job, after he was fired, the players spoke about about what a dick he was etc,, and said it was tough place to play. they were spent by the end of the year i feel mangini is worse.. why is the number 2 coach players don't want to play for? Players obviously on the jets complain to other people in the league that this guy is a dick.. did u see jay Glazers report today, i believe it.. If you think players cared about mangini don't you think they would have done more? for god sakes the st louis rams sent a petition to the owner from the players asking them not to fire Haslett... i cant foresee any jet players doing that.
