Well, the reason they have a lot to lose is if they do not do well, thier coaching staff and front office will most likely get fired. That means everything they have been workign towards could be out the window in terms of player development. The Jets got the switch right this time. We are sticking with a 3-4 defense and have no rebuilding on that side of the ball. We also retained our OC so all of the returning players know the system and should know it well. Jauron will lose his job with yet another 7-9 type season. The splash they made with the peters trade and TO signing could blow up in the GM's face. That seems like a lot to lose to me. If the Phins have a down year? Well, its year two of the new regime, so that can be expected. They will have a bit tougher schedule as well. The Jets? QB issues can be looked at as well as a first time head coach. Unless we are down right awful, I don't see any changes to our staff incomming. So yea, Pats have the most to lose , as they look to have the most talent on paper, but the Bills would be second IMO.
I don't know how the Bills have so many votes. Every Bills fan I've bothered about the T.O. signing has rationalized it by saying "well, we have nothing to lose."
Well, of the four teams, if the BILLS don't make it to the playoffs, the result will be new coaching staff (minus Bobby April), new players, new schemes. Maybe new QB. Sets the organization back 3 years or so. Far more disruptive than the other three if there is a failed playoff bid. I still voted NE though.
Stability in a coaching staff is only a good thing if it's a good coaching staff. It seems to me that if the Bills miss the playoffs, the fact that the coaching staff will be gone is a good thing, not a bad one, since Jauron has hardly shown that he is an NFL-caliber head coach anyway. On the other hand, if they make the playoffs the staff stays together, and there's evidence that that's a good thing.
Marketing Ploy? We were the Best team in the NFL at week 11. Till he tore a bicep tendon. The last 5 weeks are coaching problems.(overthinking, lack of compensation for the injury) But there is no denying where the team was prior to his injury. NFL Network has actually been kind enough to show week 10 last week, and will show week 11 this week. Remind me again of when the Jills were the best team in football?
I voted NE as well , but the bolded part is what I was gettign at with my posts and probly why people voted for the bills
The other reason we're voting for the Bills is the question isn't about which fans will be most upset or whatever. It's about which team -- organization -- has the most to lose. If the Pats lose, maybe they use their umpteen picks next year to find a new running back and another young linebacker. If the Jets lose, well, they're breaking in a new head coach and quarterback. Dolphins, well, time to give Chad Henne a shot, look for a legit No. 1 wideout, etc. If the Bills lose they clean house and say, F, where do we go from here. New coach, new QB?, goodbye T.O., etc. But hey, some people are interpreting the question differently, I guess.
DJ has one winning season as a HC and that wasn't with the Bills, he has three losing seasons in a row. If the Bills lose again this year DJ will be gone, hardly aynthing to stress over or care about. The Bills haven't been working towards anything. it just looks like a big mess up in western NY. They have nothing to lose, they aren't spending money on coaches or players. there is no sense of urgency. Just what seems to me like an "Oh well" attitude.
I remember last year Bill fans saying the Bills were light years ahead of the Dolphins in the rebuilding process and the Dolphins would be the worst team in the division by far. At the same time the Bill fans were saying they had the best chance in the division to unseat the Pats from the divion. Now this after their second 7-9 season in a row and the Pats coming off nearly a perfect season. Yet we got through the 08 season and the Bills could only beat the worst teams in the NFL and lost to everyone else, while Miami proceeded to turn their 1-15 season into double digit wins and a division title. My point is the Bills never do anything in the off season, their fans act like they do and every year for the past decade the Bills have been horrible. If the Bills had made big strides this off season to improve the team I could see the Bills having put a lot on the line, but this off season for them has been no different than the last handful of off seasons. No one wants to play in Buffalo and the Bills don't want to spend the money. It's why at this point they have such a large amount of money still to spend with their cap. The Bills don't have anything to stress cause they just don't try very hard to build a winner and their fans will continue to show up in droves and watch their team lose cause there's nothing else in Buffalo to do. RW is a business man and he cares more about the bottom line than he does about wins and loses.
Phins: Beyond Penny the QB is a big ? Defending AFC East Champs puts a giant target on their backs. Pats- Expected to be a top team, but is Brady really healthy/ Bills- Spinning there wheels for years..Will TO be a savior or another big mistake? Jets- New Coach, New QB, expectations can not be high...but in NY, every bar is set too high So I give the most to lose award to the Pats...strictly on how Brady does..a close second to Miami.
-First of all, the season is 17 weeks, not 11 so who cares. The BILLS were 5-1 last year at one point. Where did that take them? -It has been a while since the BILLS have been on the NFL radar. No offense to JETS fans, but it's been about 16 years since the BILLS last Super Bowl, when was the last time the JETS did that? Since Namath won in 1968, you guys have been to two championship games and lost both, so if we're going to get into a pissing contest here about the last time any of our squads were considered the elite of the NFL make sure you are ready to hear the truth.
This is not a hard question. If the Pats miss the playoffs two years running the dynasty is over. Still a good team but kind of like the Steelers in 1982 good...
Haven't read the posts, but it's gotta be the Bills. If the Patriots tank and miss the playoffs, Belichick isn't getting fired. Most jobs should be intact. If the Dolphins tank, hey, it's year two for Sporano- sophomore slump. No big deal. If the Jets tank, oh well, 2010 with Sanchez and room for Rex to improve. But if the Bills tank, TO will create a media circus, Trent Edwards will likely lose his chance at starting in this league, Jauron will most definitely be fired and the franchise could potentially be moved to Toronto. They definitely have the most to lose.
Agreed....Buffalo has the most to lose....moving to Toronto would suck! And Jauron is already on borrowed time. In argument to the folks saying that they have so little to begin with that is true, but when someone who has so little loses that little bit, it is devastating. A man with 100 bucks doesn't mind losing a dollar, a man with 2 bucks who loses a dollar is pissed.
It's got to be the Pats. Their fans are accustomed to success. If they don't win the east their heads will explode. After that has to be Buffalo. Jauron has to be on thin ice there. Jet's just have to do well. I think if the Jets have a winning season with Sanchez and he shows some potential for growth the Jets will be fine. As for my Phins ideally they'd love to repeat as division champs. If Pennington gets injured I think they'd be happy to do well and finish over .500. If Pennington is injured I don't think anyone believes they'd have a chance at the division crown and would be satisfied then with Henne and White playing well.
pats. like some posters said, if they lose with brady this year, it could be signs of the end of the brady era.
