Which would you prefer?

Which do you want to see?

  1. Draft/sign a DE, keep Dewayne at NT

    21.6%
  2. Draft/sign a NT, slide Dewayne over to End

    71.2%
  3. Draft/sign both a DE and NT, Dewayne doesn't fit

    7.2%

This question has been bugging me for a little while now, especially with the way that Dewayne started playing as the season carried on. Would you prefer the team stayed with Ellis at End and Dewayne at Nose Tackle, but brought in a replacement for Kimo at the other end spot; or, would you rather see them bring in a NT, then slide over DR to the end position? Also, I threw in another option for those of you that would prefer both, and don't think Robertson fits either role.

I think we should keep Dwayne for sure and draft somebody

I watched the replay of the Pats/Jets playoff game. I never look at any players duing the game other than the QB. My focus is almost always on the QB to see if he hands it off, fumbles, uses playaction, or gets sacked.

I got the chance to watch Dewayne on a couple of plays and the guy was getting pushed back to the second level! He was blocked all the way back to where the LB's were standing before the snap. This is unacceptable. We need to either move him to DE or not start him at all.

I loved his effort this year, but his knee and his physical capabilities can only carry him so far in a defense he doesn't fit well in.

Draft/sign a real, legitmate NT and slide Dewayne over. This should be priority #1, IMO. Not saying it'll go that way (using our 1st pick) because maybe there'll' be a BAP stiuation (RT, for example, or a RB we just have to have) that pops up, but definately a NT on Day One.

We have to do this. Tom Brady had enough time in the pocket to place cell phone calls to his girlfriend to find out what's for dinner. Even the announcer said during the game, "If you're going to give Tom Brady this much time, it doesn't matter how good your secondary is, he's going to pick you to pieces." And he did.

We have to dominate the LOS on both sides of the ball... we have to! No other way to build a championship team.

Draft or FA sign a big NT and move Drob to DE. We still have some talent in Pohula that could rotate in to spell our choice when he comes back.

Ellis/Draft/Thomas/FA are all better than D-rob, we pay him too much as well

Ideally you move him to the outside. I think we should draft the best guy available at either position, or look into adding a rotational widebody. Either way Von Oelhoffen has to go.

Dewayne may not be here in 2008 with his contract status but I'd still like to move him over to RE and either release or put Kimo on the bench. Target Raiders NT/DT Tardell Sands. The man is a big 6'7, 340 and yes he may be tall and some may look down on that but he can surely bat down passes with ease and him getting into the backfield would have to scare the living hell out of any quarterback.

If he does come here, it'll be a great DT signing, and we can draft a DE then and our line will be set.

Then we can all start calling him turtle...and he'd be in green (and he's be wide)...it works out.

Tangini's only mistake this year was switching to 3-4 defense without making a commitment to getting a real NT.

I realize you can't do everything in one year, but this was a really bad gamble that cost the Jets not only in the playoffs, but through the first half of the season.

Hopefully, they have learned their lesson.

I never wanted to switch to 3-4 but now that we're used to it and we have no d-line the way it is, might as well keep it. Our d-line is terrible, and our linebackers have alright depth, so... yipee

DeWayne is a 4-3 DT (and not a nose, at that). He doesn't fit in the 3-4. Neither does Vilma.

We surely need more depth. D-Rob could be a nice fit at end and a massive NT is needed.

I thought DROB definately made some progress this year and he really started penetrating defenses. I like him at NT. I think we draft a RE and keep DROB at NT

I think Tangini realized the perils of transforming to the 3-4 but may have thought the team would adapt better. But once committed, I'm kinda glad we stuck with it and didn't vacilate or give in to the temptation to abandon it. I guess you could say it "cost us in the playoffs," but truthfully, everybody knew we weren't going to the SB this year anyway.

Now we have a season with it under our belts and can adjust the personnel even more now to fully implement it. "Learned our lesson?" Don't know what you mean by that... I'm happy with where we got to with the 3-4 and the experience the guys have with it going into next season.

D rob showed that he can play this year. There were flashes of penitraition at NG while he was being double teamed so lets see if he can do better as a tackle in the 3 -4. Why not it's not like we can trade him and get equal value for the 4th pick in the draft (or our 2 first rounders we gave up to get there)
