  2. Ja'Marr Chase(WR LSU)

    52.0%

A bit premature, but there have been discussions about what to prioritize in next year's draft in many threads. Since the draft section doesn't get much traffic this time of year, I decided to put this thread in the main forum. I'm assuming that Sam won't be replaced in 2021, so no Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, or Trey Lance in the choices.

The answer is Chase. Please, for the love of god, for ONCE, the answer is the highly touted receiver.

If I can have any player in draft it would easily be Jamar Chase but I do have hope that we will be out of his range come draft day.

Either way a WR needs to be a day one pick with one of the 1st rounders. After that we can go a number of different directions with CB, Edge, OL, RB, even possibly TE depending on what happens this year and what’s available.

  5. A.Chase
    B. Rousseau
    C.Sewell

In that order of preference. Id be happy w all 3.If no Chase at that spot the second 1st rounder MUST be a WR

Great minds! If they miss on Chase, the only reason not to take a WR with the 2nd 1st round pick would be that there was not one rated that highly by the Jets. I wouldn't want them to reach. If there's not, then I would hope that JD would be able to trade down and take one near the top of the 2nd round, and then take another in the 3rd.

Hopefully we're not picking in the top 5-6 so I'll assume that and say Jaylen Waddle. The obvious choice on this poll is definitely Chase.

For me those two first round picks have to be a setting stone for the franchise to go along with darnold/becton/williams

I would be looking at edge #1 - with trade up options availble with our extra picks.

If we get the edge, i would like to see either a centre or corner. This is dependent on seeing mims flash a little this year.

If WR is the pits and mims is a no show for any reason including league being cut short, i would go after a WR instead.

  11. Waddle would be amazing just the same.He actually fits what the Jets need slightly better than Chase who while a special talent has some similarities to Mims.

Waddle can play that Z/Slot slasher type the team needs so badly.

    Say they lock up Perriman.

Mims//Waddle/Crowder/Perriman is a pretty nice group w Berrios,Smith,Cager & perhaps another pick fighting for 2 spots.

Yeah I think Mims is definitely an X receiver. Tighter hips and not as quick feet but more straight line speed and a bigger body frame for sideline catchers. Waddle is going to feast in the NFL. Dudes the ultimate playmaker. He actually reminds me a lot of CeeDee Lamb. Still need to see more of him to get a pro comparison since he's been buried at Alabama.

And Cager isn't bad at the bottom of the depth chart but I don't think he's an NFL receiver. No separation in college let alone what he'll do in the NFL. He should put on 20 pounds of muscle and be a bad blocking tightend.

Where can I sign up for that WR corps?

  14. Waddle may end up neck & neck w. Chase when it's all said & done. Yes, Chase is the more rare commodity & is likely the better prospect..but Waddle is an instant playmaker & can help an offense in alot of different ways. To me he's a cross between Desean Jackson,Joey Galloway & to your point smooth like Ceedee.

Yeah I'm not that high on Cager either. He's very choppy in his movements & stiff. He's pretty much a rebounder & thats it. Still, I wouldn't mind him sticking around the PS to see if he can work on his route tree and/or work on his blocking to switch to TE.There aren't alot of guys his size who can box guys out & attack the football as well as he does. Against certain opponents he could be a unique chess piece from week to week

You think Waddle would be a better fit for our offense than Chase? Interesting, I've always felt that Chase could thrive in any system. The Jeudy of the 2021 draft is what comes to mind.

  16. Not so much a scheme thing as it is position & skillset.Chase is more of an X just like Mims while Waddle is a Z who can move into slot as well.Waddle fills alittle more of a need on a micro level.Though they could make it work w Chase/Mims
