Why would anyone want to waste a #4 pick on the O-LINE???

Yes, we need linemen, but we are talking about the NUMBER 4 OVERALL PICK HERE! We need to grab a difference maker...a franchise QB or runningback. Bush will be gone by #4, so we HAVE TO take a QB. With ALL our needs, I cant believe Jets fans want to spend this great high pick opportunity on a LT. It's THIS kind of thinking that makes the Jets....well, THE JETS! We need to pick a HIGHER IMPACT player. A player who can make a difference on every single offensive snap.

I agree that i would like to see us get a impact player but it wouldnt be the worst thing in the world if we took ferguson, games r won n lost in the trenches, it doesnt matter if we had reggie bush if we have 5 stiffs blocking 4 him

He wouldn't get any further if we had FOUR stiffs either...One guy will NOT impact ENOUGH.

Just look at all the good running teams...a good line makes a good back. If we have an amazing line we can basically just plug in any decent back and have him do good ala Carolina, Denver and Philly.

I guess Jonathan Ogden or Orlando Pace were not difference makers.

    I think they are.

ya know, Brick may be a safe pick and he may warrant the 4th pick, but I think that spot needs to be for a real impact, game-changing player.

With the 11 or so picks this draft, I think we can afford to wait on drafting OL with our first pick.

Now, if we trade down, then it makes more sense to draft an OL first because it's better value and we're adding even more picks.

    cheers

Depending on if Chad Pennington is a green and white jersey, you might get your wish on an 'impact player'. I think that one deciding factor between choosing D'Brickashaw Ferguson or Jay Cutler is if he's cut or not, obviously...

Brick will be a solid tackle for a lot of years and is a guy that can make a RBs career, I vote for D'Brick, then either Mangold or Gilles, 3rd round Drew, and we could ahve a 1-2 punch of Drew and Houston

have you watched Houston play at all, I think the line is very important, look at all the teams in the final 4, their lines dominate. The sexy pick is not always the smart pick. you can put anyone behind the lines with those teams and they will excel. look at the Raiders and all their high flying offensive players, with an awful line they sure do not look to be a great team do they

Taking D'Brick or even Hawk, or Mario Williams is a lot less risky than taking a QB. There is greater upside to taking a QB but a lot more risk. Most likely whichever QB we would take at 4th or if we trade down to 10th whther its Young or Cutler will fail in the NFL.

Taking McNeal in the 3rd round or Marcus Vick in the 5th-7th round might accomplish the same thing. They would both have great upsides with a ton of risk along with the likely hood of failure but the cost for doing so would be a lot less to us.

Taking D'Brick we know we most likely we have our LT for the next 10 years.

The o-line and d-line are the difference between winning and losing in a football game. (someone already said that)

How would not ensuring our quarterbacks health and saftey not be an immediate impact for our team. Besides D'Brick can be a difference maker by elevating our pass blocking game. He's only going to get bigger and stronger I don't know why you don't see this. We need O line help we can't let our line be like swiss cheese just like the texans.

he cant be a difference maker if he has 12 guys ready to rip his head off with no one around him to block, and who the hell are you talking about, Cutler?!?! he MIGHT be a difference maker if he had the AFC pro bowl team

What's wrong with you people? The Jets don't need linemen. They are exempt from linemen. They are good enough to stockpile all the good QBs and running backs in the draft. The O-Line doesn't matter. The QB is the real one who makes a difference.

wow, some of you are really foolish. You really under estimate the importants of a linemen, especially an OT. So what if you got hte 4th? Gallery was taken with the 2nd? I know you have a high pick and want a Cadillac or something glamourous that could win your a ROY or something, but in all seriousness D'Brick is the best move.

Grow up and learn the fundemntals of the game. Maybe your QB will stay alive longer if htey aren't pummeled all the time. I'll take a moderate QB with 7 seconds to throw than a great one with less than 3 seconds to throw.
