This is from PFT http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/04/03/cutler-ron-turner-have-rocky-history/ Cutler, Ron Turner Have Rocky History Posted by Aaron Wilson on April 3, 2009, 12:47 p.m. Newly-acquired Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is known for holding a grudge, and he still seems to be holding one against Bears offensive coordinator Ron Turner stemming from an old recruiting dispute, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Sun-Times. Citing people close to Cutler and a Denver Post column, some fences may need to be mended between Cutler and Turner now that they?re going to work together. As a high school senior in southern Indiana, Cutler accepted a scholarship to Illinois where Turner was the head coach at the time. Cutler committed without visiting campus, though, and when he arrived for an official visit Turner reportedly pulled the offer. ?When Jay went for his official visit, the coach told him they were rescinding the offer because they had some hot-shot quarterback from California,? Heritage Hills athletic director Jay Burch told Denver Post columnist Woody Paige. Illinois wound up signing Mike Dlugolecki, who wound up transferring to San Diego State. And Cutler had turned down offers from Purdue, Duke and Maryland to go to Illinois before winding up at Vanderbilt. ?It?s not right,? Jake Cutler, Cutler?s father, told ESPN.com. ?I still have a bitter taste in my mouth.? In the past, Turner has denied that Illinois rescinded the scholarship offer because Cutler was never made an offer. Obviously, they?ll need to rehearse their lines a bit before the press conference today.
If Cutler doesn't answer, show up at his door. Nothing better than a face to facew anyway. Make sure you get all the crap out of the way now and go on to acting like professonals. Should be an interesting.
He should DEMAND a trade! Franchise QBs do not REQUEST! What are you thinking?! I am so glad we didn't get this turd.
There is something about McDaniels I cant stand. I dont have any issue w/ Denver or any other BB descendents(aside from the obvious divorce w/ Mangini). mcdaniels just seems like sucha dick.
omg wtfever. I never wanted Cutler here for the ransom that has been had. but I sided with Cutler in relations to how the Broncos tried to trade him, denied it, then fessed up to it. and then told him it could possibly happen again at that point id refuse to play for them too. NOW........you get your wish and your fucking DAD is bitching about the OC of your new team? i dont think the article mentioned anything about Cutler complaining about who the OC of the Bears is, i think this is a beat writer who got lazy and just noticed the coincidence and will try to stir shit where shit isnt going on. either way I'm sick of hearing his fucking name.
your right Abyz, its this. I'm the coach were a team if you dont like me, eat shit cause I run the show. theres a difference between a team first attitude. and then you being a cold dickhead to grown men who are supposed to follow your orders. and when they dont like being treated like high school players you just say well I'm the head coach so I AM the team. if you dont like me your not good for this organization. i think Bellicheck disciples command respect as soon as they come in instead of building respect by, I dunno say doing things like winning.
I've never heard McDaniels speak, but from what I've read, and what I've heard out of Mangini, it's like they're trying so hard to be like Belichick, but it's out of character for them. When Mangini tried to act like a dick, it just didn't seem natural. It was so out of place and it was obvious, at least to me. Belichick is just a natural asshole. These other guys pretending to be one are going to fail until they drop the act and become their own person.
McDaniels is not trying to be belichik! If he was we'd never have gotten his "side" of this Cutler story. Belichik just doesn't talk to the media the way McDaniel has this year.
