Jets | Run defense allowing few scores Fri, 5 Jan 2007 10:26:10 -0800 Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports the New York Jets' run defense has yielded just one touchdown in the last eight games. hmy:
Did Randy lange really report that? I guess that stat would not exist if randy sdid not "discover" it:lol:
Results of games after the Bye: Nov 12 @New England Won 17-14 Nov 19 Chicago Lost 0-10 Nov 26 Houston Won 26-11 Dec 3 @Green Bay Won 38-10 Dec 10 Buffalo Lost 13-31 Dec 17 @Minnesota Won 26-13 Dec 25 @Miami Won 13-10 Dec 31 Oakland Won 23-3 All of these TD's but one were passes?
Little off topic, but so many people talk about strength of schedule. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/9901730 Look at the win percentages of all the playoff teams. 6 had easier schedules then the Jets. Not that it really matters anymore, but I just found those stats to be interesting.
NE had that tipped ball TD pass then got the 2 pt conv, Chi had the TD after burning Drew Coleman, Hou had 1 TD and it was a Carr to Johnson TD, GB had 1 TD and it was Favre to Driver, Buf scored 4 TDs- the long run by Willis then passes to Royal and Evans and the defensive TD, Minny had 2 TD passes, Miami had the pass to McWifeBeater, and Oak didn't score a TD. Don't be confused thinking our run D was good b/c it was and is still bad.

Not saying I don't want them to be dominant. I just don't feel the jets run D is THAT great vs. the run as of now. It seems guys still have success gaining yards vs. us, but its good to know we have had some success from keeping them from punching it in. Lets hope it continues, if only for one week.
You know, in another thread (Coach of the Year) it is mentioned in Mangini's stats that "the Jets defense was stingy all season, allowing an average of18.4 points per game, sixth lowest in the NFL." Yet, in the last 8 games, we did much better than that even, by allowing only 12.75 points per game. If wonder where that would put us (ranking in the NFL) if only the last 8 games of the season were taken into account?
We are not the Baltimore Ravens when it comes to stopping the run, we all know that. But this stat clearly shows you how good our redzone run defense is.
Ahh that statement is absolutely false.... 3 division games, the #1 seed in the NFC, a Houston team that swept Jacksonville and beat Indy. The only gimme was Oakland.
