Gm 1: Burnett vs Paulino Gm 2: Nova vs Duffy Gm 3: Colon vs Chen AJ was AJ. Decent couple of innings then fell apart, against a weak KC lineup nonetheless. He's gotta be the guy to hit the pen. Please, for the love of Revis, make the right call Joe.
I saw more blurbs yesterday that it's all but assured Hughes will be sent to the pen and AJ will get to stay in the rotation. It makes me absolutely ill. Someone should be fired for that decision. This organization claims they want to develop their in-house talent, then when it shows what it can do, it gets sent to the pen or back to the minors. All so that ridiculously overpaid headcases can keep their spots. EDIT: Just took a look over at the Yankees' website. It looks like Garcia is still out for a while. I guess Hughes will get another start. Of course it still probably makes no difference. Also, how about Jeter? Just when many were ready to completely write him off he lights up. The question now is, what happens later this week when Alex returns? I think you have to slot him in behind Cano. Leave Gardner, Jeter, Granderson, Tex, Cano as the top of the order.
Russell Martin is fuckin good defensively, some absolute pin point throws to 2nd base this year. Nova gives up 2 runs on a couple hung-up sliders. We'll see how he rebounds.
TV crew says Duffy hasn't learned to pitch in the big leagues yet because he has a high ERA in the innings after his team scores for him. As if other pitchers aren't trying as hard otherwise, but try harder after runs are scored. bases loaded, 2 outs, after a ground ball goes off duffy for an infield single
Another bone to pick with the TV crew. Thompson sending Gardner was not 'aggressive'. There wasn't a decision. Gardner on first, ball to the wall like that? There's no decision. 5-4 Teixeira just missed a three run homer. Maybe a foot or two foul down the LF line.
huge three run bomb after a long at bat from Cano. Duffy should've been pulled already. I think this will finally be it.
I respect the decision to leave the young starter in to get out of his own mess. Unfortunately for KC, Cano had his number all the way through that at bat. He was just waiting for the kill shot.
Cano has one of the sweetest swings I've ever seen. Looks effortless, then you watch the ball travel 400 feet. I wear his jersey proudly.
I hope they send Nova out to battle some more with the lead here. Yank him at the first sign of trouble.
