Chase Utley should win the series MVP even if the Phillies don't come back.

has a losing player ever won the series MVP in basbeall? Ron Hextall won it as the Flyers goalie agaisnt the Oilers in 87 in a losing effort

sooooooooooo, spooky howard over here strikes out EVERY SINGLE TIME HE COMES UP. Utley hits a home run EVERY TIME HE GETS UP. You're the manager. "now batting, the second basemen, Chase Utley". What do you do? I dont want any knee-jerk answers here. Really, really think about it.

and Howard is going to set the record for Ks in a WS if it goes back to New York.

Werth has hit a few well, but they were caught near the wall.

    I agree. He's been incredible.

And he hasn't had the throwing problems that he had for a couple of games in the NLCS.

Wikipedia says Chuck Howley won the MVP for the Cowboys in their Super Bowl V loss against the Colts, and Bobby Richardson won it for the Yankees when they lost to the Pirates in 1960. It would be kinda cool to see that happen but they'll probably just puss out and give it to A-Rod.

    Ibanez goes deep as well.

And as I was saying, Werth just missed going deep. Close to a back to back to back.

    Coke is yanked.

    Still feel that way?

It wasn't only about the short rest (and, Alio, the concerns about the short rest weren't about fatigue in future starts... they're about effectiveness in the current starts). It was also about the home/away splits. Burnett is a much better pitcher at home. His ERA is over a run better at Yankee Stadium than elsewhere.

Pettitte is the opposite. His ERA is almost a run better on the road. And now they're going to be starting him at home on short rest.

Given the circumstances and the matchups, this was not the optimal setup for this series.

I didn't consider starting Gaudin to be conceding the game. He's not as talented as Burnett, but after seeing what Burnett did tonight, are you telling me you're a) surprised or b) that Gaudin could have done much worse?

And Chase Utley, Raul Ibanez, and Phil Coke can all lick my taint. While I have the trots.

I might consider intentionally walking him. Radical idea, I know.

This game is lost. No need to panic. I have faith in Pettite.

    Eyre and Park warming up.

    Lee at about 110 pitches.

Rollins screws up a grounder to short and Damon reaches.

Had to figure they would have won at least 1 at home. If i knew we'd win 2 there,i would have been suprised a few days ago.

this is friggin' stupid. It's a 6 run game and Manuel is making Lee throw over 110 pitches? Is he hoping he breaks down?
