Don't think for one minute that Ed ("fumble, what fumble?") Hochuli's super-blown call won't influence the refs in the SD/jets game. By now every ref in the league knows that SD should be 1-1, but thanks to Hochuli they are 0-2. With the game in San Diego, the refs at that game know that ANY close call given to the other team will incite the SD crowd, still smarting from Hochuli taking away their Denver game. The jets now face an especially tough challenge. If you thought the NE game was reffed poorly, wait until SD gets EVERY break in the next game. Hochuli must be a distant relative to baseball umpire Don ("he's safe, right") Denkinger who, like Hochuli, once made a call in a game that no other person on the planet ever saw.
I think they will call a fair game. I think if you see them favoring SD because of the blown call last week it will cause all kinds of turmoil that the ref's aren't fair and the league has to look at it...i think you will see a game that is called very conservative with only a few penalties.
If blown calls against teams influenced officials then we'd have gotten a million makeup calls through the years. They'll get the benefit of the doubt b/c we are the jets not b/c of the blown call last week.
I don't know. How can New England NEVER get called for holding when they play against us? Never? Not once? That's what it seems like every damn game. Plus, watching the game again I saw one play where a lineman was lined up way way in the neutral zone. He was practically passed the ball on our side. No flag. Vrabel hit Favre well after he threw a ball. It was out of the pocket though and I'm not sure of the rule on that one. Still...... I think the whole "genius" thing with Belichick affects the refs.
Posts like this are ridiculous. The refs will not favor anyone. If anything they want to not be noticed at all this week in San Diego. They are getting paid a lot of cash to go out there and ref a game and have no intentions of screwing that up.
Unless we are up by 30 with 2 minutes left, we will lose this game if it's close. The refs screwed us last week.
I still don't understand why they couldn't just fix the error in Denver while they were still all on the field and knew they fucked it up. I understand there are rules and such, but there has to be a contingency to be able to fix an error like that which affects the rest of the season adversely. It's not like they figured it out the next day and it was too late.
Did you see Rangers vs Pitt?? Universally agreed bad officiating. I have Devils fans telling me they did a bad job. That when you know they weren't doing a good job on the ice. Basketball officials call the game to cover the spread
They were doing a good job of making sure Crosby and Malkin got two more weeks of TV time. And I'm also a Devils fan.
