    QB Brett Favre has told the New York Jets that he's retiring from professional football. Favre had instructed his agent, James Cook, to inform the Jets on Wednesday that he is retiring. Jets team executives and coach Rex Ryan confirmed the retirement in a statement, saying they talked to Favre on Wednesday morning about his decision. Favre, a future Hall of Famer, spent last season with the Jets, throwing for 3,472 yards, 22 TD, 22 INT.
