Well, it didn't take long. Three days after the debacle against the Baltimore Ravens where QB Mark Sanchez was just 11 of 35 for 119 yards, 1 INT and 3 lost fumbles, an ESPN study showed that Sanchez's performance was the worst one for a quarterback in recent history. "Over 46 plays, Sanchez rated an 0.6, the worst of any quarterback involved in 40 or more plays in a game over the last four seasons. There were more than 900 such games over this stretch."
Also, Sanchez's passer rating of 30.5 ranks tied for 13th-worst among Jets quarterbacks in the history of the franchise.
In a separate article ESPN compared the three quarterbacks selected in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Detroit's Matthew Stafford was selected at #1, Mark Sanchez was picked at #5, and Tampa Bay's Josh Freeman was chosen at #17 overall. It probably doesn't come as a surprise that Sanchez is rated the worst among these players.
“Sanchez fell into a situation where he came to a team that had a good running game and good receivers," Softli said. “He just had to manage a game, and now things seem to have changed. I don't think he's a guy that can win on his own and win big. Can he develop into that? Probably yes. But he's not there yet."
