But that was part of Girardi's double switch that put MO upto bat and weakened the lineup.... Just like he did in Game2. He constantly makes moves that disrupts the lineup and bullpen. I'm really starting to wonder if he knows WTF he's doing. and note, I like Girardi.
My son just asked me two questions. 1) Who is a worse manager, Joe Girardi or Joe Torre? My answer was they both suck. 2) So if you could trade Girardi for any other manager, who would you trade him for? I said Mike Scioscia. Probably the best in-game manager in baseball. What about you guys?
I totally dislike scioscia...I think he's over rated. Torre was actually a good Mgr. now he just collects a check. I really like Cito Gaston & Jim Leyland w/Honorable mention to LaRussa but IMO LaRussa relies way too much on his stat book ala Torre.
I was in favor of giving the job to Girardi. It didn't take me long to change my mind. He makes terrible decisions in-game, especially in regard to pitching. That was easy enough to mask during the season when the majority of the competition can't compete with this talent. This is the playoffs though, and the Angels are the second best team in baseball. You're not going to get away with being cute, especially when your douchebag crew of Matsui, Cano, Swisher, Cabrera, Gardner, and Hairston are playing like shit. Even if the Yankees win the World Series, Girardi should be fired. The team wins in spite of him. And that's a terrible way to win ballgames.
I'm glad Smith got the game winning hit, now McCarver can eat crow after talking about pinch running for him in the tenth over and over.... I cannot stand the guy he is such a know it all.
Gaston can start hot, but can't keep it going. I have always respected Leyland though. I've always despised LaRussa. Dennis Eckersley and steroids made his career. Torre may have been a good manager. To be honest, his teams were so much more talented than everyone else back in the 90s that it's hard to say it was him. Given what he did once the team put together wasn't from the Missing Boss years, I tend to discredit his "accomplishments."
Looks like this postseason has brought Jeter and A-Rod close together again... ...and Jeter appears to be enjoying it a little too much.
From Twitter: Girardi on Aceves 4 Robertson sub: "We have all the matchups and the scouting reports and we felt that it was a better matchup for us." Yankee scouting reports = toilet paper Some advice, Joe: Go with your gut, not with the SCOUTING REPORT!
