This last game was NOT on Girardi. 4-0 from AJ after 1? The only thing GIRARDI did was let AJ come out to pitch....after that, HUGHES BLEW IT.... He had a Lead when he came in and then didn't... that's on him.
Yeah Burnett was at 80 pitches through 6. He had been cruising.... I don't blame Girardi for sending him out there for one more. I'm pissed at Hughes throwing a fastball right down the middle on a 1-2 count vs Vlad. That was bad.
U Guys are being a little ridiculous here... He called on his players to perform and HUGHES didn't. How is that Girardi's fault? He's a relief pitcher and only relieved himself when he shit himself on live TV... I DO NOT LIKE THE WAY GIRARDI HAS HANDLED THE YANKEES PB IN MANY INSTANCES..... today was NOT one of them. Hughes was 1 pitch away from getting out of it and everybody sucking his dick saying he's the man but AGAIN he blows his asshole out and lays a big squishy.
Thats a great point man. With a 6-4 lead, and Burnett sitting for who knows how long, you take him out with the bullpen the Yankees have. Just makes sense. The 4-0 beginning was irrelevant at that point. How can you even use that in your argument?
fox is doing a postgame and they have someone on the streets in anaheim interviewing a newsday reporter (davidoff), and a bunch of angels fans gathered around them and you could see them on TV smiling and laughing.
seemed like a low class move by FOX to show it, considering they were playing to a Yankees fan crowd. This was the local news. I said it wrong. The actual postgame was very short. The local FOX affiliate took over after a few minutes, and they were showing Angels fans celebrating in the shot. You know, giving them attention. Naturally, but that isn't the point. Maybe it's just a pet peeve of mine, but I hate it when they give attention whores attention.
Because it's my way of saying "Quit while your ahead." They came back from him Shitting himself and he pitched well.OK THANKS AJ Have a seat. That was his only bad move... The Marte move WORKED and eliminated using COKE. So IMO, you can't really question a move that worked. HUGHES was brought in and Totally BLEW IT. How is that GIRARDI Fault when EVERYONE and their Mother screams for HUGHES because he was Lights out in the reg season? So when He doesn't it's his fault and when he does it's his fault too?? Nah man, That's that METS FAN/Willie Randolph mentality and says "I Hate the Mgr. no matter what he does!" I don't, I call it how I see it and while everyone has an opinion I really don't see how this is Girardi's fault.
The Yankees have no one to blame but Hughes and themselves. Hughes shook off Posada repeatedly to throw a fastball to Guerrero, and he missed his target badly on the pitch. That's all on Hughes. Then, even after blowing the lead, they managed to load the bases and couldn't get a run in. Credit Fuentes for bearing down on Swisher, but Swish also fell behind in that at bat with a few very weak dribblers. This is a Jets message board; Jets fans are way, way too quick to blame the coaches for everything. That's what this Girardi bashing is. There was no reason to pull Burnett before he did, and when he did pull AJ there was no logical choice but to bring in Hughes. And even after the blew it, they were still in position to win at the end. Tonight the Yankees didn't perform, end of story. Hopefully they'll take care of things in 6 in the Bronx.
Game SIX is everything for the Yankees. They CANNOT beat the Phillies if CC has to pitch Sunday. Sorry if I stated the obvious.
I'm still amazed at some of you. Burnett was cruising? Why? Because he was still relatively low on pitch count? This was the dagger game. You go for the kill. That means that when you have a lead going into the 7th, out comes the starter before he throws a pitch. Burnett didn't have his best stuff at any point last night. Pitch count aside, there's no reason to send him out there, and definitely not with no one already loose in the pen for any sign of trouble. You put your players in the position to succeed. Girardi did not do that. A fully rested pen. That's what Girardi had available last night. Why is there any hesitation to bring in Joba for the 7th? Or Robertson? When you don't put your players in the best possible position to excel, it's a coaching mistake. Yes, the players failed last night. Hughes blew it, and his mistake is on him. Just as Sanchez's interceptions are on him. But why were those guys put into those positions? Coaching. Players are responsible for executing, and last night they didn't. But it should not have gone down like that anyway.
Pretty much sums up the way I feel about it. Its much easier for a reliever to come in at the beginning of an inning with a clean slate than with two on and nobody out.
The hesitation to bring Joba in is because each time the fucking guy has come in he's given up a triple, double, and double respectively.
