bad job there. rodgers not going hard after the first down and then not calling the timeout right away. wasted over 20 seconds
TOUCHDOWN GREEN BAY! Rodgers goes deep to a wide open Jennings. Play action pass on 3rd and 1. and they're going for two conversion is good Green Bay up 6 Jennings toasted Vasher.
Cutler throws one to Harris and that's it! first time in his career that he threw four picks in a game
PIK... EOG! Why does Collinsworth continually defend everything that Cutler has done??? All night "It's the receivers Fault"....
Speaking of bad QB's when does Delhomme get cut? I can't believe Carolina actually gave him an extension after his 6 INT meltdown in the playoffs...that makes 10 in his last two games.
Of course it doesn't guarantee both teams touch the ball, but at least it prevents the common game ending on a field goal. Forcing the receiving team to score a touchdown to end the game immediately is a much fairer system than the current one. It would drastically reduce the number of games where only one team got a possession in OT. A system should be used that does not give a decided advantage to the team winning the flip.
There's a bit of a movement for an silent auction-type system that could work really well. Instead of coin tosses, each head coach submits a yard line from which they'd be willing to start. Whichever team offers to start farthest away gets the ball. It's then played sudden-death.
I never understood the overwhelming need to get rid of ties. At least in the NHL system a team still gets a point for an overtime loss, but that's probably not possible in the NFL with the short schedule. As to the overtime pizza idea, watching football players out at midfield negotiating that way would be hysterically funny; I'd bet that at least 1/3 of the time they'd screw it up and the coach would go crazy. LTS' silent auction idea avoids that, but I'll bet coaches would never go for it, since it puts way too much blame on them if things goes wrong.
I don't understand the need to change the OT rule when half of games do NOT get decided by the team on its opening drive. But if you must change it then do this, make a team have to score a TD on its first possession to win it (so you'd have to really earn a win without giving the other team the ball), then every possession after you can win it with a FG.
BTW, congrats on an impressive win yesterday guys. The D looked pretty solid. Sanchez looked good on 3d down. Here's to being tied by the end on tonight's game (damn, I started drinking WAY to early.......)
