I hate to be that guy "but", since when do NFL teams have the luxury of giving players four yrs to develop to an acceptable level that they aren't a liability? I mean you guys are preaching patience and talking about hill only being 23 and all that but the kid was rocked hard early on and has alligator arms ever since. You keep five wr's on 53 man roster maybe six. We have Nelson, salas and hill in contention for spots. That's a whole lot of nothing, not to mention ford who is a one dimensional returner poised for a spot. Decker and kerly are our only legit proven talent at wr. Hill might make the team but he sure as hell won't get another yr if he reverts to his previous form once the hitting starts.
one of the luxuries of keeping him comes from the fact that he isn't making any money. But a roster spot is a roster spot, I hear ya.
Are you thy guy who posted about letting Gholston go 5 years too soon? Anyway, we have 10 WRs on the team and the best one's a white dude. Holy cow we're fucked.
Cut that shit out. One of the best WR this franchise ever had was white. I know it's hard but at least try not to say something stupid.
My bad. And yes we could really use Wayne right about now. Kerley is a poor mans Chrebet but I'll take him.
Will be interesting to see how many WR's we end up carrying. I'm thinking minimum of 6, and possibly 7. Decker and Kerley are locks. Saunders and Evans are pretty close to locks, even if they don't play much. Nelson is versatile in where he can line up, and a sure handed possession receiver who could start if needed. I like his odds, although i don't think he adds much to ST. Hill is the biggest wildcard no doubt. The Jets best case scenario is this guy clicking, and earning a starting spot. I wouldn't expect brilliance, but they can really use 40-50rec plus the deep threat element from him. On the flip side, if he's not showing good improvement in camp, you have to turn the page. He doesn't play ST's, and we have a lot of WR's fighting for that roster spot. Ford has a good ST game, but he'll have to show ability to contribute at WR to make the team. If we go with only 6, it might be tough for him to squeeze in. Gates, Campbell and Salas would have to show a whole hell of a lot in preseason, along with either Hill or Nelson struggling to make the team. long shots. Same with Enunwa, although I'm sure they'd try to get him on PS if he shows some developmental upside.
This is a good summary. It's going to be a difficult choice, no matter what. Although he's low on this list, Salas isn't to be underestimated. He's a young (25), big target (6'1"). More importantly, Salas is at that point in his career when, if ever, things should be starting to click. Certainly, it's the offseason, but he could bump Evans or Hill, possibly Nelson, to the PS. Then again, who knows with this group. Either way, it's going to be an exciting TC.
I can see a guy like Enunwa getting bumped to the PS for Salas, but not Evans. And neither Nelson nor Hill are eligible for the practice squad, they both have more than 1 season accrued. Salas would need to make huge strides to surpass Nelson, but not so huge strides to surpass Hill.
Don't lie. You love to be that guy. You called one of the best defensive coaches in NFL history a doofus! You just let the hate overflow.
Nope. Does like you and just replies and we all have to scavenger hunt through the thread to see who you were quoting. Haha
