The Browns really have to be worried about Mayfield - he took a gigantic step backwards this year. Besides Allen and Jackson being clearly better from the 2018 class, Murray, Burrow, and Herbert have clearly passed him, Hurts and some of this year's QBs might also, and by the numbers even Minshew has actually had a better career so far. And that's playing for a team with offensive weapons all over the field.
Baker has been bad all year and definitely regressed, but I’ll disagree a bit on the weapons. Running game and backs are good, tightends are solid but the receivers have been bad all year. Odell was disinterested and Landry is proving why Gase pigeon-holed him into a shallow crossing receiver and that’s it. Dude can’t separate. I also think Stefanski is a really good coach, but needs to diversify to Baker’s strengths. He’s made him into simply a play action quarterback under center, when he excelled in the short quick passing WCO style spread at Oklahoma. Either way - they should move on from him. The defense and offensive line is elite. It’ll be interesting to see if they try to make a play for someone else in the off-season.
They could make a play for Russ. Their roster is deep enough that giving up two 1st rounders won't hurt if that's what it takes to land him. They could also ride out another year with Baker and move on after 2022, but they are built to win now.
What are the chances of Russel Wilson signing off on a trade to the Jets? Is there a probability that is less that zero? If so, sign me up for that.
btw... with all the injuries i'd say its hard to evaluate Baker much this year fwiw, imo he's pretty average with variable games that go from above avg to below avg
