Atrocious clock management by Campbell & friends there. Burned 40 seconds on a two yard rush with no timeout.
Dan Campbell, Hank Fraley, Mark Brunell, Anthony Lynn, Aaron Glenn, Kelvin Sheppard, Antwaan Randle El... The Lions coaching staff could probably beat the Jets.
How is that an easy decision to go for it? Kick the field goal and if Rodgers scores as he likely will you're still down one score heading into the fourth. Now you're going to bury your chances. Smh. I have no idea where this obsession to not kick field goals comes from. This game is about stacking points and winning the game in the fourth quarter. Just like when the Ravens went for 2 (before and after the penalty) yesterday early in the fourth quarter. A touchdown thereafter put them up a field goal rather than having to go for 2 again to just be up a FG.
I watched a Fields highlight video from week 2 with every snap and found him quite impressive. He still looked uncomfortable in the pocket, lacked pocket presence and bailed to early but he was making quick decisions and either getting rid of the ball fast or running. This was quite effective as it negated the rush and covered up his weaknesses. He made some nice throws and he hurt the Bengals with his legs. But most of all I liked the quick decisions. He had a few bad plays. A fumble that should have been turned into a Bengal TD but the defender dropped it while trying to run and a horrible INT at the end of the game. But, overall he was impressive and I like how the Bears are protecting him. He might never be a good pocket passer but his running threat slows pass rushers and makes it a lot easier for him to be effective and move the chains.
