I was rooting for us to win until it became clear Glenn is not a good coach and Justin Fields is still Justin Fields.
"It is hard to imagine Lombardi not fuming at the sight of a mediocre defensive lineman dancing with self-celebratory delight after making a routine tackle in the second quarter with the team trailing by 14 points. One of the many sayings attributed to him (it had also been put in the mouth of fellow coaching legend Paul Brown) is something that he supposedly said to the great kick returner Travis Williams in 1967 when Williams danced after scoring a touchdown: "Travis, the next time you make it to the end zone, act like you've been there before." As the story goes, that was all that needed to be said."
I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm saying you are complaining about two things that are essentially opposites. I'm calling you the life of the jets party.
My only problem with your statement is you act like there's a QB worth taking at the top spot. At this point in the season and from what my untrained QB eye tells me, there isn't a college QB worth the top 10 next year. So, unless you are aware of some unknown talent we should be shooting for at #1, I'll take the win and hopefully a few more, so that this team can start to build a winning culture. If another Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning were coming out I'd sit and lament with you. As it is...I do not see it. Enjoy the win.
Complaining about “meaningless” wins due to draft position concerns in October of the first year with a new regime is just goofy. There’s no clear cut top pick at QB waiting for them anyways but even if there was it’s too early to be rooting for failure. Be disappointed when they win a meaningless game in week 17 or 18, not week 8.
I dunno man. If your first reaction to an exciting win on an extremely emotional day for the franchise where the offense looked fantastic and our head coach got his first win is “well there goes draft position” or “Glenn isn’t the guy so Im rooting for losses” you might be dead inside. Why bother watching?
The win and now the bye with much to chew on for two weeks... "Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning." Said Churchill after the second battle of El Alamein. The message was that although a Victory had been achieved, there was still much to do... GO JETS!!! EAT THE BROWNIES!!!!
