there’s something to be said about Mac, he’s looked VERY comfortable in the niners offense at least and is doing it with subpar weapons aside from CMC of course. But he’s keeping the offense on time. If you’re not going to find a mobile QB like Daniel Jones, at least get a cerebral QB who can keep the offense moving on time.
Kind of crazy that the Niners walked into a division rival’s home turf and won a game without their best defensive player and with a backup QB Shanahan is a very good coach
They didn't have their 3 receivers either. No Brandon Aiyuk, no Juan Jennings and another guy I am forgetting. Shanahan is the real deal really.
It's the ideal scheme fit for him. You don't need to have a big arm or incredible mobility in this offense. Just need to get the ball out accurately and on schedule. I am not surprised to see him succeed. Helps to have weapons like Kittle and CMC as well.
I still am not sure why lists are still talking about some of the guys on these lists as top prospects and Dante Moore and Jayden Maiava aren’t in the running. Sellers has great potential but I’d have a hard time drafting a guy who hasn’t shown much in college beyond a good second half of one year. QB1? Don’t know about that.
No kidding. Plus there will be a will he/won't he, Manning angle to the next two drafts. Nobody is ever going to convince me that the NFL isn't just some Clash of the Titans style game where the gods find new ways to fuck with us for their amusement.
More than 2026. But I still think it's too early to write off this year. There's no preseason in college football. It's not all that fair to expect a kid - emphasis on KID - to light it up from Day 1 and sustain it all the way through. Especially how the college game has evolved. Think: Joe Burrow. Drafted as a RS senior. You almost never see that level of player with four college seasons on his resume, because guys with that kind of talent don't stick around that long. And, the reason we know him from his success at LSU is because the guy who was Mr. Football, All-Ohio, homegrown darling, couldn't beat out Dwayne Haskins for thr starting job at Ohio State. We're being tough on these kids because they haven't blasted out of the gate showing First Round talent. The good ones show up in time. The real trick is figuring out which of those are just good college players, and that's all they'll ever be. Like first round pick Dwayne Haskins. Two-thirds of the season and the tougher tests are still ahead. A couple guys are starting to show up. A few others still have time to prove something.
Interesting matchup today against “lesser” prospects no one is really talking about on the national stage. I know Becht has gotten some fan fare here but Rocco vs. Brendan Sorsby should be a good game. This is Sorsby’s third year as a starter and it’s clicking. He has prototypical NFL size too.
The afternoon games should also be fun. For all those waiting for Nico and the UCLA trainwreck to hit the national stage, or for Arch and Texas to get back to playing varsity teams - your wish is granted.
I don’t follow college much at all but I’ve been looking into Manning and yea, outside of OSU their schedule has been embarrassing. How are they ranked that high? Or is it wishful thinking and they’ll drop out of the top 25 with their next loss?
