It was sort of the point I was making a couple weeks ago about his personality but I skewed it more towards the overly religious stuff and not the goofy nerdy crap. But they both kind of tie into each other.

The only two personality types I can remember that are as goofy as him are Russell Wilson and Kirk. Kirk got railroaded by Stefon Diggs & Thielen a number years ago when they made him go on a radio show and apologize for not getting them the ball or some shit. He also played into it and wore a big ass goofy chain. Fitz had some of it in him too.

Idunno I think they probably win the Big 10 this year with Kurtis Rourke from last year too. Indiana’s been building to this, it’s not like Mendoza got here and he turned the ship around which is kind of what the perception seems to be here.

Yeah, I’m sure there was more to that turnaround than just the QB…I did watch this whole game and granted it’s the only game of Mendoza’s that I have seen, so my sample size is exactly just this game.

    My key takeaways

    1. Dude came up HUGE in big moments on the road at OSU…that’s a big building and hard to play in, so he impressed me quite a bit just by winning the game, but he also had some HUGE key throws on third and shorts to extend drives, and a couple or three of those were like 20 yard downfield throws instead of dump offs on third and short..that is fucking moxie and confidence and stood out to me…he didn’t turtle over he went for the jugular. Gotta love that.

    2. His post game interview was cringe…not sure why you would be crying and it may not be PC but also it’s not the norm for a football player…the religious thing as well I won’t judge and more power to him, but yah, I came away from that more turned off than on board and yeah it sure feels like that may be a tough act in NY, but again, winning on the field trumps it all, and he did do that

They weren’t on the road though. They played into Indianapolis at Lucas Oil where the Colts play. They had the crowd advantage as well.

I predict he's going to look very out of place as QB1 for the Las Vegas Raiders.

Moore is a little different, he transferred to become a backup and work on his game.

I do have a dislike of the portal but I'm not really holding that against Mendoza here. You are just making it seem as if he was the reason Indiana rose to this level by mentioning he accomplished something they never did before. Indiana was 11-2 last season. He left Cal and joined a great team. In the NFL he's going to be drafted by a bad team. I'm not sure his soft, giddy nature is suited for all that that entails, especially in NY.

I have other concerns about Moore but he appears to be composed in the face of pressure

Yeah, a bit cringy for sure, but who gives a fuck though? If he wins Conf championship for us and does this type of emotional interview, would anyone really care? I sure don't, hell I might join him, I've been waiting for so long for something like this for the Jets. Play well, win, and that's about it. That's exactly what he did. They haven't won like this since 1945, are we really going to get on the guy's ass for being emotional after a victory like that? I don't understand what the problem is. I do prefer Moore, but not for this reason.

And here is the kicker, even next week we may not evaluate him. I just learned they have an opponent (J Madison) they are 21 points favorites against? I thought this was supposed to be best of the best, 12 best teams. This is so stupid right there. Why not play Vanderbuilt, Texas, ND, some good school like that? Same thing for Tulane. They already got their asses kicked by Ole Miss 45-10 and lost against another bad team, how do they make top 12 just so that they are huge dogs again against Ole MIss? This does not make any sense.

Let's not all forget that defense. Full disclosure, I was far FAR more impressed with Indiana's defense than I was with Mendoza! I don't watch college football, as you all now know, but damn, caught me totally by surprise. Hell, I'll ask it, why can't the Jets play defense like that?? I was watching a little before the game started and the talking heads were pimping the defense and I was, literally, telling myself, "How good could they be?" Uhhh...yeah, there is some legit NFL talent on Indiana's defense to be sure. Probably more so than Ohio State, IMO.
