  5. What a crazy situation the board looks like right now. Im completely lost at who we will select due to the uncertainty at the top, yet we are only looking at 3-4 different player possibilities

Sucks so far... 45 minutes in and all they have covered is off-season FA acquisitions (Terrell Owens to Dallas) and USC. Pretty much the easy stuff to report on, whey they would make a special out of this is beyond me.

I can say that the extensive time they have spent on Leinart further proves to me that we should not take the risk. Trade out of the top 5, someone is going to make it worth our while to move into the #4 spot.

Ug - this draft show was terrible. I was hoping they'd at least do a one round mock or at least discuss the top 20 draft prospects. It's been more like a "state of the NFL's teams" show. And is it just me, or does Mel Kiper Jr. almost have old fashion Dracula hair? :breakdance:

Did Merrill just say Clemmons would be better than Young and Leinart... and he gets paid for his opinion??? Geez.

Thats what happens when you get bored... you make an insane prediction and if Leinart and Young become all pros he can say "I was kidding" but if Clemens wins 5 SBs then you can say "I told you so." Everybody on ESPN is stupid so we just need to learn how to ignore them.

    He sure did. Unbelievable.
"I wouldn't take any of these QB's in the first round."
    Another ridiculous comment.

I'm actually with Hoge on this one. I prefer getting the veteran QB to complete my team rather than grooming and grooming and maybe getting nothing.

I think he meant that he feels Clemmons in a middle round is much better value than Leinart and Young in the first round. Basically he doesn't believe Leinart or Young are elite prospects. He thinks Leinart's arms strength and lack of mobility, and Young's footwork and release will prevent them from becoming top QBs. He thinks those three will all be servicable to good QBs, which would make passing up elite prospects at other positions for Leinart or Young foolish.

I tend to agree with him. I wouldn't touch Young because of the system he played in and his mechanics. Leinart worries me because of his arm strength, the fact that everyone on his team was far better than everyone on the opposition, and that he's a little too celebrity for my liking. His desparation for playing in NY (not for the Jets), and the fact that he employs an image consulting/marketting firm in addition to a regular sports agent makes me wonder if he's more preoccupied with being a celebrity and making commericials and TV appearances than he is with developing as a QB.

i thought the show offered some fascinating insights i.e.: who would ever have thought that reggie bush could go #1 overall?

For a "Draft Special" they spent a good 20-25 minutes talking about FA moves, specifically TO... I hope TO is not the only thing ESPN reports on for an entire football season again this year. It made me sick last year.
