Holy crap that outfield grass looks awful. Thankfully Angle didn't get hurt there.

not red sox/yanks. They said any terrace or ???? seat to a game where seats are available next year.

So that wouldn't be a Red Sox game.

Wieters two run bomb off Hughes to tie it.

Came on an 0-2 count with Hughes over 100 pitches.

With the injury risk, maybe the teams should bench their stars. Wieters, Jones, Cano, Granderson, Teixeira.

twitter: yanks/o's going for first night/day doubleheader.

Yes. I want the old men who've pitched worse each outing of late to go to the pen. Obviously if AJ isn't fixed, I would rather he didn't get the job, but I'm assuming he's better. I guess we'll see.

Yeah, I saw Noesi got promoted yesterday. I was actually surprised by Kontos and Brackman though. Kontos pitched rather well in AAA this year, but I hadn't heard any news he might get a call. Brackman got better towards the end of the season, but I never expected to see him in pinstripes this year.

    And still no Betances. Strange.

I actually went off on Girardi on Twitter when I saw the lineup last night. ARod already getting rest after just returning. Cervelli in for Martin. Posada rather than Montero after his big day, or even Jones who has been killing the ball.

Of course Cervelli and Posada go deep to shut me up.
    -----------

Speaking of lineups, has anyone heard today's? AJ had better pitch the game of his life if he wants to stay in the rotation.

    Nunez SS
    Martin C
    Swisher RF
    ARod 3B
    Jones LF
    Montero DH
    Laird 1B
    Golson CF
    Pena 2B

Maybe Girardi finally figured out that it might not be the best thing to go against Verlander twice in a 5 game series.

One game does not equal "of late."

Even if AJ is "fixed," I see no reason to believe that he'll be better than Garcia has been. Burnett's got a 4.81 ERA in 3 seasons with the Yankees, and he hasn't pitched to an ERA lower than Garcia's 3.50 has since 2005. Similarly, he hasn't pitched to a lower WHIP since 2007.

I guess it's not entirely impossible that changing the placement of his hands magically reinvigorates Burnett's career, but it certainly doesn't seem likely. Hell, even against Boston he was struggling to locate his fastball (his curve was nasty though, I've got to give him that.)

Brackman getting the call isn't surprising since he's on the 40 man roster already--no additional move was needed to bring him up, so even if they aren't planning to pitch him they might as well let him hang around the big leagues (remember they did the same thing last year.)

I think they are genuinely curious to see what they have in Kontos--he looks like he could be a valuable middle reliever next season.

    Yikes.

and AJ is pitching his usual shitty game already....2 walks/2 stolen bases/wild pitch/2 earned runs.....don't understand why they keep running his ass out there!!

Well, AJ clearly isn't helping his own argument. Though that craptastic Nunez didn't help. I'm only listening though, so I have no idea how AJ actually looks (in terms of how his pitches are breaking, location, etc.) Obviously he had a wild pitch, so that isn't good.

EDIT: As for Brackman, I just figured they'd shut him down for the year. I'm not upset about his promotion. I just figured it would be good to let him end on a good note and prep for next year. Kontos I like. It'll be interesting to see how he does if he gets a chance at some work.

I guess the yankees really don't have any time off from here on out with makeup games, thus the lineup today, and last nights late game.
Wait, what is this i see, I envision cano coming off the bench in the 8th and hitting a 3 run go ahead home run.
