Good God Geno looks bad. The Jets can never get a break ever, it's almost laughable, 3 picks in barely a quarter of football.

I was really rooting for Smith, he looks awful. Even the long completion to Hill looked ugly.

You think Geno has any chance of starting the season after tonight? You're crazy.

Is it possible for Jets fans to be bandwagoners? Don't you have to win something first?

The funny thing is, it's not that tough to land a good to great QB, each year 33% of the QBs in the league are basically very, very good QBs, you would think over 50 years it would be impossible to not land a great QB.

Think about it Manning, Manning II, Brady, Brees, Matt Ryan, Aaron, Rodgers, Wilson, Kapernick, Romo and Stafford to an extent. I mean it isn't like there's 1000 teams in the league, there's only 32 teams and like 10 fantastic QBs in the league.

HTF do we have shit behind center year after year, after year?

One day this team while hire some people in the front office who actually understand the college game, the programs, the systems, and the recruits. One day we won't draft the Kyle Brady's and Dwayne Robertson's and Vernon Gholston's and Geno Smith's of the world.

Anyone who ACTUALLY FOLLOWS THE COLLEGE GAME could not be shocked by this horrible performance. Don't say we didn't warn you.

I'd like to retract my previous statement and apologize to the board. The Jets make me loopy.

I think I'm going to have to jump into "that was the worst possible outcome" crowd. 100% absolutely NOTHING was answered tonight.

Now, I can agree that we should lay off Geno...rookie QB, first start...etc...etc... We can also agree Russel Wilson, Andrew Luck, RGIII he ain't. He also isn't capable of starting the season either. Now, depending upon Nacho's status that may be right where we were at.

I was extremely shocked at how tentative he was...even with a clean pocket. That did kind of shock me. Personally, from what I saw this evening, if you HAVE to start a young QB due to a possible/pending injury of Nacho...you start Simms. At least he was decisive and rifled the ball in there. But that's just me.

Also, I do NOT think it was bad coaching to get Sanchez in there. They said ALL WEEK that whomever didn't start was coming in at some point...it wasn't a surprise so quit yer' bitchin'. The damn guy needs the reps too! Screw that horse shit about 5th year and all that. If he didn't make some of the SAME ROOKIE mistakes every year then you might have a leg to stand on. He needed the reps as much as, if not more, than Geno!

Tonight Geno Smith showed us why it is so hard to play QB in the NFL. He was trying to be careful with the ball but in the process he was making a lot of mental errors, generally just holding on to the ball too long and then making throws he shouldn't have made. He stared down receivers and missed other guys who were open or coming open. His footwork ranged from adequate to really sloppy and the little hop that popped out now and then as he was releasing the ball was so obvious that you didn't have to look for it closely.

Now here's the thing. He's a rookie and most of that stuff is correctable by repetition and coaching. Whether he will correct it is not clear but once the Jets become fully focused on making that happen we'll see which way he goes fairly quickly.

Mark Sanchez on the other hand is in his 5th season and really he's no better than Smith on a lot of that stuff on his down days. You only have to look at the Arizona and Tennessee games last year to see material just as bad as Smith produced last night.

The difference between the two of them is that Mark Sanchez has conclusively proved at this point that he's not correctable or coachable on a lot of that stuff. When he has a down game he's going to blow chunks, just like Smith did for substantial parts of the game last night, and the reasons will be exactly the same as the last time he was bad before that.

Sign me up for trying to determine if the new guy is correctable instead of playing the guy that we know is not.
