Winston. You made my day. You should be a writer for the NY Times. The best post in a long, long time. 1968 to 2008, may our dreams come true.
Winston, thanks. I felt like I was standing next to you in the basement looking at your stuff. I appreciate your passion. After all these years watching my fans be ashamed of their football team and yes reliving the past has been like being a Lions fan, sort of. But drunk. After that read, I will feel better standing in my Jets gear amongst my Sunday BBQ bretheren. Most notably my Jets jersey that reads on the back 'Joe who?'. There are plenty of things to gush about. There is an optomistic air about this season. Kinda like right before Vinny blew out his........I digress. Nice post. My feeling is 10-6.
i almost missed this gem. i said hmm let me take a look to see if there is anything else going on further down page 1 and there i saw this thread and decided to open it, and i am surely glad i did. i concur with all the other posts that have thanked and applauded you. great post!!!!!
Bravo old man...that story has it all. The history, the emotional roller coaster, the happy ending, and a phat peace out. Also good to see a self-proclaimed darksider end on a note of hope, though the IV was a nice parting shot:up:
The IV isn't just Favre's number, superbowl 4 ended the NY Jets reign as World Champs. Who's an old man? Name the Appelbee's and I'm ready..
LOL! GREAT POST!!!!! seriously well written. Better than most of the crap you'd read in any sports rag. You freelance?
You sir, are a poet. You brought me back to the Jets of my youth when the impossible happened. I truly hope your turn to the sunshine comes to fruition. As for me, the dark side has me in a death grip. I can only foresee 8-8 at best. Contrary to all other enlightened opinions, I don't see a power run game developing and that 8-8 rides solely on the arm of number "IV". May his streak of games continue.
The league isn't that good. I don't think we run the ball great but we run it enough to keep D's honest. Favre is going to get balls to guys fast and we may be able to break a lot of screens losen things up and grind enough yards to keep the D off the field? It's a concern but the league has shifted the rules to favor the passing game so I don't think its as important as it may have been in the past.
