A year from now we will be 18-0 with Peyton Manning as our quarterback, off to play the Saints in their stadium for the first super bowl ever to have one of the participants play in their own stadium.

The Jets will be battling the Bills and the Dolphins for second place in the AFC East.

And, depending on how the rest of the AFC goes, they may or may not be in contention for a Wildcard spot.

If someone in here can explain why the 2011 Jets were SO BAD without it relating to them beating themselves, then Ill start whining like the rest of you.

Seriously even with all the BS they were in it right untill the end, correct the self made mistakes of this year and the Jets would have made the playoffs. How people can abandon all hope when the reason for failure was self inflicted...I just dont understand.

I do undertand however how frustrating that is, which leads to wild irrational outbursts which can be seen previously in this very thread.

    Well get em next year.

Every losing team says it was "self inflicted".

Go to a Chiefs board, a Rams board, a Colts board.

It's never "we suck" it's always "we were just a few plays away", "we just need to replace this guy or that guy", "it was all self-inflicted".

No one ever says "We sucked."

But, I'm here to tell you, we sucked. And we are nowhere near winning the Division, let alone the Conference or the Superbowl.

You're now offering absolutely nothing to the board other than telling us how futile it is to be a Jets fan and hope is pointless. That defines a troll.

Why are you here? Why should you still be allowed to be?

As long as Billacheat and Brady dont retire, we will have to win atleast 10 games to get into the playoffs trying to beat them for home field advantage.

Because I'm a true Jets fan.

Someone who has stuck with the team for decades through thick and thin.

And, someone who recognizes this team provides very little thick and a lot of thin.

I would say until Brady dies or retires being a Jets fan is largely futile, we will never beat Brady and Bellicheck in a relevant game again. I'm just holding on until this era passes and hopefully the Pats don't just luck into a 1st pick like the colts just did.

Are you allowed to call him that?

Anyway, Roger Vick seems to be purposely putting down these posts to get a reaction. He's an attention-seeker.

You aren't doing a good job of sounding like it, giving up on seasons before they start.

I can understand having no expectations so that success is a pleasant surprise and failure hurts less. That's called pessimism.

But pessimism still implies hope. It doesn't sound like you have any. Doesn't sound like you even like/look forward to watching Jets games.

    What did I call him?

I said his behavior matches the definition of a troll.

I didn't call him one, and if I did, it would be accurate.

If you're going to try to make a point or an argument on me, you're going to have to do a lot better than that. But unlike most, if you manage to make a good point, I'll respect it.

I agree with this, RV, but also would add I don't know why so called self inflicted problems should not be a source of concern, either. Even were one to conclude most of the problems were self inflicted, how does anyone predict that the Jets will suddenly and for some unknown reason stop hurting themselves? I don't get that.

But in any event I agree with you. The Jets didn't beat any playoff teams, only beat one decent team all year (San Diego, who did not make the playoffs), even split with Miami, who suck. I suppose you could argue Dallas was a decent team, but the Boys gave that game to the Jets.

The Jets still blow at rushing the passer, can't cover TE's, still have a huge question mark at Qb, and stepped backward in the run game, D, and seem to have forgotten how to use wideouts. How one is suppose to be optimistic going forward is beyond me.

Well, we probably have the biggest dice-roller of a general manager in the league, for better or worse.

There's going to be a significant shake-up, changes made, things to look forward to and renew optimism.

It might have some effect. But I think most guys want to win and dont care whose feet Rex is sniffing.

I think what caused him to lose the locker room this year was not handling the Tone/Sanchez situation properly. And that is what did it. But I am someone that tends to think most people dont care what you do in your personal life as long as you are competent to do the job you want.

If this organization goes after Peyton, pays him a shit ton of money, give up on a 3rd year QB, and don't have the money to truly UPGRADE the positions WE NEED to be upgraded, then we won't be going anywhere for at least another 5-10 years..

THe longer Tanny is with this team, the less patience I have for him. But that's just my opinion, and I doubt Woody shares it. After all Woody was happy with the idea of having an accountant be his GM rather than a real football guy, and has been all along, so it seems.

Woody no doubt was a bit nervous and unhappy with the pace of PSL sales, but I doub he blamed Tanny for that. Not that he should have, but the point is that Woody is most concerned about the overall profitability of the team, and only secondarily about how his ownership of the team makes him look in the eyes of his friends. At some point he might become aware of how Tanny is not doing such a great job, but for some reason I think Woody is not there yet.

But if Tanny is still there, I don't see a big shakeup coming. If VD is still on the roster, if Pool is, if there's no real backup QB challenging Mark, and in particular if Tanny tries to move up in the draft by givng up draft picks, then you will know that things have not changed for the better in Jetland, and reason for optimism will not have come. Yet.

Ducasse or Pool being on the roster has no proportion to the Jets potential success, it only does if they're expected to make a significant impact.

Everyone with eyes knows we need a RT and a safety or three.

While I'm not necessarily for it, I don't think trading up guarantees failure either. If we can inflict some FA damage to our positional holes (RT, S, K, P, OLB, WR, QB, arguably RB), trading a pick or two to move up for someone who we think will be an elite level option at one of those positions could be beneficial.

    Hah, is it POSSIBLE? Yes.

    Most likely? No way.
